I "roll my own" 8-tracks for the Caddy. Don't tell the fuzz, okay!

Vinyls are important tools to survive The Zombie Apocalypse.

Not only can you still play them by even the most primitive means (A disposable paper cup or a sheet of paper will play a vinyl) but they can be used as weapons to combat the undead.

I've got a Sgt. Pepper's picture disc ca. 1970 that I like to try to pick out the celebrities on.

I have Elvis Presley's first album put out in Brazil in 1955. The cover and the record are well worn (we played it a lot at our Saturday night parties, and the back is in Portuguese). I also have a Bill Haley and the Comet's album among a lot of other artists from the mid fifties. The RCA do Brasil plant in Sao Paulo produced RCA's records for the rest of Latin America and also produced a lot of other company's records for the South American market.

My dad would bring a pile of records home each week, I'd check the ones I wanted for quality control and keep some of them, the 78's we used for improvised skeet shooting and the rest went back to the plant for recycling. We also had free TV's (not a big deal nothing worth watching in those days, and a huge, very expensive "Hi Fi " that was ugly as sin but for its' day sounded pretty good.

    My Dear Caddy Friends:

I love my CD collection; and,
    have never stolen a song.

I still listen to my records; and,
    that just can't be wrong.

    Best Regards,

    TomDeville

Re: Do you still use CDs?

This is 1/3 of my vinyl - some of the most played "Top of the pile" has been supplanted with CD. Everything from Beethoven to Brubeck to Beach Boys to Barbra Streisand to - you name it. We did some ELO and CCR last night.

Get to Amazon and find the CD "Shangri-La" by Mark Knopfler and "All The Roadrunning" by Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris. Also Dire Straits On Every Street", "Brothers in Arms", and their first - "Dire Straits". The sonic work, music, mastering, and lyrics on these make most later stuff sound like kindergarten work by comparison.

You oughtta hear "Dark Side Of The Moon" in pitch darkness on the sound system in an IMAX theater......... WoooT !

Brubeck and Knopfler/Dire Straits is good stuff - but Floyd is one of the most overrated out there IMO. Some of the lyrics and instrumentals by themselves are interesting, but mashed together they produce a horrid product.
