    Re: Your favorite car of the 80's . . . .

I forgot, actually the Alfa Romeo 164 came out in the late 1980's (1988) although it was not imported to the U.S. til the 1990's. With the 3 litre 4OHC V6 that the U.S. cars had they were pretty quick for the early nineties. But it was the was the way the car drove and handled that really made its' mark in the world of executive sports sedans. Many a European publication and a few American ones that actually test the 164 thought they were the best handling sports sedans in the world.

The size of a BMW 5 series, my Alfa 164S gave me a very fine driving experience for over ten years. If I could buy a brand new one today (I got my '92) brand new in 1993, I would do it in a heart beat.

Being that its' introduction to the American market was in the 1990's I always consider the 164's as a nineties car, when in fact they were design and first marketed in the 1980's. Any way you slice it the Alfa 164 was the best of all the cars I have owned! .

I'd have to agree with Dadillac, the 959 hands down.

Kind of funny that half the cars on this list were launched in the late 70's.

Another favorite of mine, the Lincoln Mark VII LSC:

Gotta admire Lincoln for not pussing out like Cadillac, they still sold a big, powerful, coupe that commanded respect and made you feel like you owned the road.

I think you're a bit optimistic in the price/luxury comparison, I've owned them both; old Cads are nice although a nice RR is immeasurably nicer.
