While they won't ever reach a classic status nor be desirable, I've always liked the 1988-90 Park Avenues. Good, solid, cheap luxury cars with gobs of space, a wonderful engine, amazingly comfy seats and a handsome design. I'd rock a clean one in a heartbeat as a winter/rainy day car.

    Current:
1992 Lincoln Town Car Cartier Edition (5/14- ?)

    Past:
    1995 Buick Roadmaster Limited (4/04-12/04)
    1992 Cadillac Sedan deVille (12/04-9/07)
    1999 Mercedes Benz S320 (8/07-7/09)
    2000 Buick Regal GS (7/09-4/12)

^ I like those 1980's GM low bench seats with the useless headrests. Most of them are super comfy and upholstered in some nice leather or plush velour.

Anyways, can't believe nobody has mentioned this car yet. If I owned one I swear I'd have to buy some Testament, Slayer, Metallica, Anthrax, Def Leppard, Van Halen, and Judas Priest tapes for it. And grow a mullet. You have to have a mullet if you plan to take off the t-tops.

I always preferred the Pontiac, with the single exception of an alpine white '92 Z28 convertible a neighbor of ours had many years ago.

I had a red '88 Iroc convertible JUST like the one pictured but the rims were slightly different and I had a black '87 5.7 Iroc like the one pictured. I still think they look good. This mullet thing concerning these cas is something I became aware of in the last 5 or so years. Back when they were new it was considered a "gweedo" car and I remember people saying "Iroc" stood for "Italian Retard Out Cruising". Those were the days.

^ HAHAHAHAH, never heard "Italian Retard Out Cruising". Guess its a regional thing, because the 3rd gen is king of the trailer park around where I live. In truth though, those things are so old the beat up ones have given up the ghost, now all the trailer trash drive v6 4th gen cars.

I remember going to see both the Camaro and Firebird when they came out in early eighties. I thought they were really good looking, but man they were cheaply built. Both the materials and the build quality were terrible. But it is a testament shoddy workmanship and plastic that so many of them can be found in trailer parks today!

It's true but back in the 80's these were hot shit. Nobody cared about the crappy, ratty 60's and 70's models at that time. Funny how the 3rd gen is the butt of car jokes now and everyone wants the '60's models or new ones.

    Re: Your favorite car of the 80's . . . .

I do like the second generation the best of the Camaro/Firebird lot, but I think the third generation cars have a lot of cool style. One of the better designs that came out in the '80's.

I don't understand the veneration of the first generation Camaro, to me it is just a rehash of the original Mustang. Must be a nostalgia thing and nothing really to do with style!

The second gen Camaro is hideous in almost all forms. The Firebirds/TAs look great though.

The 3rd Gen Camaros have it all over their Poncho cousins though, IMHO. I'd love a TPI 350 Camaro.

I agree, they definitely looked better toward the end there. I'd take a Trans Am over one regardless of 2nd gen year, though... sorry Martin.
