Today I was walking towards my car to go to the store and I noticed some dirt on my bumper and wondered to myself how it got there. As I got closer I saw one of my reverse lights had been smashed and my bumper pushed in. I was pretty mad, and I walked around the front to see if there was a note....there wasn't. Little F***ers bailed! It really because the car has been having a few other issues lately too. Feels bad man.
What kind of experiences have you guys had with hit and run?
oh, it sucks! It has happened to my poor STS two times... Once it happened exactly in front of me.... The guy tried to escape, but I got his plate number and called the police... After the officer showed up the guy himself returned back, it seems that he was around and watching me to see what I am doing... Officer got his information and gave it to me.. But guess what... All of his information was fake!
The second hit and run happened when I had parked my car in the street. When I returned back I saw my fender edge is bended over headlight, and the headlight is broken!
I am really thinking about installing dash cameras!
My 97 sts got dinged awhile back when my wife was in the hospital, she was there for 18 days, the last day when I picked her up I went back to the underground parking lot and there was a big crease
about a half inch deep and 18 eighteen inches long on my back passenger door, I guess someone scraped it with their side view mirror. Funny, I didn't find a note either.
As I have written here in the past, my wife was sideswiped by a pickup truck while waiting at a red light. She followed the guy and honked but he continued on his way and wouldn't stop, she got his license number and called the police ..... only to be told that they couldn't do anything. A few days later they called and said they had traced the guy, but said they were reluctant to charge him with "hit and run" because he was a "veteran." My wife told them that her husband was also a "veteran" but that he didn't feel justified in leaving the seen of an accident. Net upshot was the police refused to pursue the matter and our insurance company paid to fix the damage on the the brand new 2000 Cat era.
A month later, after I had had the Alfa Romeo 164 repainted to the tune of $4000., some miscreant "keyed" from back to front the length of the car. This was vandalism and the Comprehensive on my insurance paid to repair the damage. Yupper, Northern Virginia "to close to Washington to be responsible too far from home to care!"
didnt even read full thread yet but noticed hit and run and then skimed the replies i could tell what this was and i feel you there bro
sevillle is in the shop right now for a hit and run last week well now it would be the week before last week 500 dollar deductable form me
i think hit and runs should be considered comp and not collision
cause then it would have only cost 250
but i feel yua
On my Eldo, in the time between my aunt selling it to me and me picking it up, my aunt came out one morning to find someone walked around the car with a key and yanked the lower driver's door trim off. I replaced the trim and buffed out most of the scratches (sterling silver is a very forgiving color!). The only repaint needed is the LR quarter panel. Lesson learned: you can not have nice things if you live in NJ. Sad, to say the least. That car had not one dent or scratch in it before then.
Just 2 months ago, a good friend of mine had his '08 Camry hit and run. He went out to work one morning, and as he was walking out he saw his car was diagonal in the space (he lives in an apartment). Then he noticed his RR bumper was smashed in. And, his car was pushed into the car on his left, smashing in the other side of his car and that one. The apartment complex had cameras at the entrance, but no way to see his actual car. Police came, of course, and a report was filed. 2 cars smashed, one a$$hat. And no doubt it was someone with no insurance. Down here you're not allowed to register a car without proof of insurance, but plenty of people seem get around that with no problem.
I once found my car with the driver's tail light knocked in and the fender there dented in with it. No idea who managed to hit me, as I was parked in a large driveway.
I've had lots of half-ass-vandalized mishaps. I still need to find a Junkyard Hearse to replace some of my trim. That, and the court just requested me to visit a shop and get a total to completely repaint my door as part of restitution in a court case.
......So yeah, I never told you guys about that. Some jackass got himself two felonies in less than three seconds while ****ing with my car. Would have been cheaper for him to just run up and hand me $4000 cash.
Well, the person who hit me f****ed up bad. If you're gonna hit and run, don't leave part of your car behind. I found a piece that luckily had the Pentastar and part number on it, so we were able to identify that it come from an 00/01 Dakota, which one of the neighbours drives (hopefully its not them). Filed a police report and haven't looked into it anymore yet.
any accident or damage to my car is depresing upseting and angering always in the same way for me no matter what the reason
but someone who leaves a note i with there insruance because they can't find me at the time
that is aceptable to me im ok with that i understand things happen ok
and if someone hits me and they don't have insurance but they atleast leave a note saying hey look here is how you can get ahold of me
and i call exspecting oh you have insurance cool lets get this taken care of and they say oh im sorry i don't have insruance ok fine
so it goes on a collision hit and run or it goes on un insurred or under insured motorists and this person pays my deductable im happy
but when someone hit and runs does not leave a msg note at all never intends to fess up to the damage those are the guys and gall or just Ones
that i think should loose there license
not because they drove wihtout insurance forget that 6 or 12 month loose your license thing they have in ohio for driving without insruance
but i think they shoudl loose there license for 12 months on the fist time if it happens again 2 year and if it happens again 3 years
and go on like they do with DUI"s eventualy they looose there license indefinitely
