brought the riviera home. and took some pictures. paint aside, this is the cleanest 48 year old I've ever seen. the doors, hood, and trunk lid open and close smooth as glass and feel light as feathers, no rattles or squeaks, no rust to speak of (there is some, but its minor surface rust that will be dealt with this summer)

hey ma....lookit...no inner fender rust :P

Thanks guys. In a year or 2, I hope to get it repainted professionally. (I know....they're only original once, but when 1/4 the paint is flaking off the car, it doesn't look good for long....I can't even wash the sides of the car (mainly the doors) for fear of the paint falling off.)

Body roll is the CTS biggest strength though.

I will admit though for a two ton FWD car the Seville's always impressed me.
I posted the GoPro videos in the autocross thread I started a couple of years ago, but here are a couple of photos:

As you can see, body roll is much less than in the Seville:

The CTS will still understeer, as I learned in my fifth run when I pushed too hard toward the end, but nowhere near what I had in the Seville. To Sabrina's credit, she took the abuse in stride and performed better than you'd expect from a nose-heavy FWD car that wasn't built for autocrossing.

My results with Elvis put me in about the same position overall as where I was with Sabrina. It's hard to compare times from event to event because the course layout is different, and in this case, weather was a factor with the wet pavement. Still, I was faster than a Mercedes C Class, a Mustang, a Subaru BRZ and a novice-driven Miata. So long as I'm not the slowest car there, I'm happy.

The club in Eugene that I also race with has an event next weekend, and for now, the weather looks good.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

I picked up my ATS today they actually listened to me, They didn't wash my car like I requested and actually almost fixed, replaced everything I complained about
Not counting I brought up the filthy loaner car, The reactions to that left me 50/50 on whether I want to actually return or not.

Sorry for the rant guys I am just getting tired of how dealers treat customers.

Can you rule out the loaner car owner is like you and won't let them clean it?

And, NO, I would never let a dealer (or anyone else) wash my car either. Fortunately I live in Scottsdale where cars stay clean a long time and you never have to brave the cold to wash your car.

Drove the riviera today. Man I love that car. Its got style, class, and its bad @ss. Mileage is probably horrible, but whatever.
I do need to fix the intermittent turn signals though. I'm thinking its ground related since you can turn them on, they won't work, but occassionally they will blink fast then go back to not working. Also, the radio does work, just it doesn't pull in stations worth a crap (its only AM though, so I'm not missing much).

Ordered a set of valve covers.

Ordered another set the other day, and when they arrived, fitment was horrible. They were garbage. Lesson learned: they're half the price of all the other ones... for a reason.

New ones will look better than the chrome shit anyway.

I hate stamped chrome valve covers. When it stays warm for a couple days, I'm swapping out the chrome ones in my caddy for blue stock ones.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

The new ones I ordered are swanky.

Kinda pricey at $159 for a pair, but I dig it. I could spend the money in worse ways, I figure. *shrug*

That's okay. A while back, I auctioned a $30 set of valve covers on Ebay. They went to a chap in Finland...for over $540.

I wouldn't imagine there are many cars like his in Finland though, so may haps he is a collector with lots of cash.
