I had one of the longest drives this afternoon.

Alternator bearing didn't seize, that's a plus. New one en route, a Delco this time.

Well, looks like I'm buying another car....$600 early 90s cutlass ciera sedan (powder blue/ blue cloth interior) from a friend of mine. Sub 100k miles with new tires and brakes.

Also, the equinox is angry with me (it must know somehow that I'm buying another car)....front end started making noise over the past weeks while driving (can only hear it with radio off) and now the front brakes go "sproing" when you come to a stop. Boo. Not sure if it is just cold or what, but I detest that car when it decides the throw a fit every few months.

Went and looked at the cierra....apparently it had a nasty intake gasket failure. My friends mechanic screwed her on repairs too. They didn't change the oil (it was black and sludgey), coolant was mostly water (and frozen) and the engine got so hot that a vacuum line melted. Shame because it was a nice car prior to (not) getting serviced.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

I finally had a second to look at it, and the trans cooler line was just crazy loose so it was pissing out ATF+4 like a hooker sweating in church. Tightened it up and topped it off, and all is well. Made an appointment to have a local shop put on my upper radiator hose I picked up at OReilly yesterday, that's gonna happen tomorrow at 2pm, and then I took her to the quarter spray wash and got at least most of the muck off of her. She feels much better now.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Took her into the shop to get the upper radiator hose replaced, and they accidentally broke my radiator petcock valve. I don't blame them too much, it's plastic, it's been below freezing, and it's most likely the original radiator on a 183k mile car. They're keeping her overnight to pull the radiator and fix it. Really nice guys, and they seem very knowledgeable, patient, and respectful. I think I've found my new shop.
