True but the old guy might get a heart attack just from the sense of speed---then wipe himself out in a car like that.

Most of us "old guys," on the Forums have already driven cars at speeds that would make most of the young guys around here pee in their pants!

And gee, the old guys even know how to shift gears and use a clutch .... imagine that!

Good idea, I will have to remember that next time I take some of my young friends for a ride! I'd prefer not to have the seats soiled.

Today? Not much. Cleaned it out a bit. Painted two battery trays I had for it. Might sell those. Idunno.

Eyeballed the shifter. Looked at some potential center console conversions that might fit it. Lots of fun ideas swirling around.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Drove the 69 down to Hawthorne for the SoCal CLC Region's quarterly board meeting. My fellow board members loved the car, and we spent a lot of time commiserating about restorations gone awry. Afterward, a couple of us went to lunch, and I got to ride in a fellow member's 1961 six-window SDV! Then I drove home along PCH and through the canyons. The 69 is settling in nicely, though there's still a quite a bit left to do to get her ready for prime time.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Went to play autocross racing yesterday and today. Whew! Todays course was the hardest all year - super fast and tight corners. At the beginning of the season I was drifting cause the rear was so loose, now I'm plowing through the tight corners cause the front wheels got no more grip to give! Yesterday I was second, today I was forth of five. Hell I almost got beat today by an 11 yr old in a junior cart. Just couldn't get Elwood to turn. Out of six runs I killed an average of two cones per run. Finally got my quickest and only clean run at the very end.

Oh by the way, made a new friend today. Another St Louisan just bought an XLR last week and he brought it by where I was autocross racing to show me. WOW!!!!! Black Cherry is a beautiful color.

Got my new shifter installed and it's SO much better than before. Turns out one of the lower bushings was missing and the rubber bushings on the shifter arms were splitting.
