Re: What did you do to your car today?

9c1's had full instrumentation, regular Caprices had idiot lights for most everything, and the clusters weren't as wide.

This is a regular Caprice dash:

My dash looks just like that, except I have the lighter woodgrain pattern like the tan surround I picked up. I also have a 100mph speedometer because my car is a '92. Another fun fact: the 1991 cars (like the one pictured) didn't have park brake interlock, so their surrounds don't say "APPLY BRAKE TO SHIFT FROM PARK".

And this is a Custom Cruiser cluster in a 9c1 dash surround (what I want):

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Didn't the 9C1's have a digital speedometer but all the other gauges were analog? Or am I thinking of the Caprice Classic LTZ's?

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Yeah, the 9C1's did. The digital speedometer was supposed to be more accurate for high speed pursuit and catching speeders, etc. It's just that the 9C1 surround fits under my existing dash, and has the opening wide enough for the OCC cluster.

    This is the 9C1's cluster:

I just think the full analog gauges look nicer. Plus, since the CC cluster came from a wagon I'll get to keep my "Gate Ajar" warning light.

Yeah, the 9C1 dashboard definitely looks goofy with the digital speedo thrown in with all the analog gauges

Re: What did you do to your car today?

It's a popular mod for sedan owners though, because it reads past 100mph. I thought about it, and I've seriously only had the car that fast maybe... twice? Not worth it for all that goofy digitalness.

Yeah, for 94-96 guys that's popular for full instrumentation and 150mph speedo.

    Inbox cleared.

I didn't think any 80's sedan would have had a big block. I was surprised when he said that.

And those bodies were all alive. Though most of them were drunk, ALL of them were shouting.

Holy carp. That brings back memories. The big ass rectangular speedo. My 79 Olds had one of those. It sometimes felt like it took forever for that needle to go from left to right.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

    I hate it so much.

I've literally been hunting for a 9C1 surround since the day I bought my car. That's over one year to find ONE damn interior part.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

When my dad test drove and paid the cash deposit for my '92 deVille he told me "yeah, it's got that stupid flat 85mph speedometer, I always hated those things" I thought it was kind of neat though, and it definitely was a throwback to earlier times.

My Citation had an 85mph speedo like that. I loved how the needle would bounce when you went over 85.
