It'll probably be gone by the time I need it. I won't have the surround for a few weeks (need to pick it up, not shipping something that large/fragile). And even then, I'm doing new shocks on all four corners first.

    We'll see though.

ok. I'll be going back there soon. I found a 94 fwb with the driveshaft I need. If its not too much I might pick up the speedo and shelve it for a while (I'm also gonna pick up a set of nice leather buckets out of a first gen bravada while I'm there).

That'd be cool. If by chance one has fewer than 120k miles on it, I'd be in love (but I'm not optimistic lol)

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Turns out it was a nice day after all, so I went ahead and gave Cruella a good hand wash. After the harsh North Dakota winter, I was pleased that she cleaned up so well, and that Sapphire Blue Firemist still sparkles.

After several rounds with Westley's Bleech White and a brass brush, she finally has whitewalls again:

Still has the Heart in Oregon sticker.

And a little advertising for us:

Cleaned out all the trash, gave her a good vacuuming and treated the seats:

This is what really amazes me about this car. All those years, all those miles, and she still cleans up nice and runs like a champ:

My Dad didn't understand why I went to all the trouble to clean Cruella up since she won't stay this way for long (I recognize not many people are like me when it comes to maintaining their cars). But I did it as much for Cruella as I did for Laura (who did thank me profusely). I am very, very fond of this car, she got me through a dark period in my life, and it feels good to give the old girl some TLC.

I saw an old Fleetwood, I think, today. The old boxy one with the fins. Early 80s maybe. I kind of want one.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

I took the dash out last night to reglue once again, and when I did that I finally was able to fix the piece that surrounds my instrument cluster. For almost 3 years that piece was unclipped so not only did it look ugly it rattled and made lots of noise. Apparently the idiots who had put the new dashpad in my car in 2005 didn't clip it back so it looked like hell. While it was all out I decided to replace my aspirator fan; I had the part in my trunk for a year and a half but never got around to fixing it until now. Put the dash back in and everything is looking better than it ever has.

It would be even better if the big block you spoke of had any power! 140hp won't set the world on fire.

    I timed the GS's 0-60 today: 6.6 seconds.
"They call Alabama the Crimson Tide, call me Deacon Blues."

    Current:

Odd. I did the same with the wagon yesterday. 9.01 with a bit of a rollout. Surprised me.

    6.6 is pretty damn good.

No, but they just have that old-school beef to them. I piled seven bodies in my 79 Olds one time, and it was just as fast as when I was by myself. Which of course, wasn't very. Still, it wasn't slowed down at all.

The '80/'81's had the HT4100. Hardly what I'd call a big block.
