I have a mint copy of that brochure. 1984 was the only year they offered nice separate brochures for the Seville, Eldorado and DeVille/Brougham.

New paint will do the trick.

    That is all.

Like I said, I never understood WHY there isn't some type of clear that could be sprayed over an old base coat that had been prepped.
    No is the answer.

It'll look like poop if you do that.

I actually put more miles on my bicycle this weekend than both our cars combined. Lol.

I have never seen another Cadillac of that vintage have paint problems like that. I know you keep your car clean so I'm curious as to why this is happening? Most of the ones that I do see with paint issues have been neglected and look like they are one step from the junkyard.

Don't rule out sections being poorly repainted BEFORE the car was sold if he was the original owner OR any time before he bought it if not the original owner. The laws regarding disclosure vary by time and jurisdiction plus I know dealers who would have no problem breaking those laws if they were the cause of whatever made a repaint necessary.

Went and looked at the toronado again. We're apart on price, but we're meeting again next weekend to discuss it some more. It's pretty straight and solid (has 2 minor dents and a scratch that isn't through the paint). I cannot see the undercarriage, but given the condition of the bumpers and quarters/rockers/ fenders, it should be solid. It was repainted with lacquer paint in the original color (dark metallic blue) back in the 80s. He said the hood will get white spots on it after it rains, but wiping it with a wet towel will get rid of the spots. My body guy said he should be able to buff it out and make it look like new. It has black steel rims (not color keyed), crank windows, cruise control, vacuum trunk release, AM radio, and strato bucket split bench seats. It comes with 2 spare rims, a spare AC compressor, and some misc parts. He was very straightforward with what all it needs (pretty much everything my mechanic said) and wanted to make sure that I knew that the engine had to be soaked prior to starting due to sitting for 20 years and that it needed lead additive due to soft valve seats.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

I received a new radiator from Rock Auto. Again. The first time it was a mis-boxed radiator from PRO. Rock Auto re-sent me the same radiator right after I dropped off the return at Fed Ex, which is really great. Only the new shipment was with the same wrong radiator again! I guess PRO is not so professional at packing; the part number on the radiator is different from the one on the box. Also I am disappointed that Rock Auto didn't check the content of the box before they ship internationally. Twice...

So I frustratingly repacked the radiator again and received a return sheet. I actually wanted to have the car finished by this weekend. But it will take another week to receive another radiator...

Last night, went junkyarding. Struck out on a hood (had removed and set aside out of the way, and someone knocked it on the ground and stomped all over it.)
Picked up a 5.7 fuel injection by GM for cadillac air cleaner lid (needs repainting but the sticker is nice) and a console for a friends truck (the one I installed the leather conversion seats in 2 weeks ago) that I am currently refinishing.
On the way back from the junkyard, I went to change lanes and got about 2/3 into the lane and noticed a blinker started flashing from the next lane. I quickly glanced over and noticed a semi about to hit me (was changing lanes and couldn't see me because of where the car was). I quickly cut back into the other lane and went around it. It scared me to death (don't feel like becoming roadkill to a semi). Thankfully, I was in an equinox, not an explorer, else I probably would have rolled over.
In other news, filled up the equinox yesterday and got 16.3mpg almost all city.
