Decent is exactly what you mentioned Kevin. I would be thrilled to find a $2K paint job. All the FOOLS around here want to remove the window trim, door handles, etc. etc., and want $7k-15k.

Sadly, $2k around here will only get me the left side. Although it has a small rust past and a few dings, I still think the going rates are ABSURD.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Well I came damn close to kissing the wall at Gateway Motorsports Park today. We had setup a short Autocross (30-45 sec) on the road course for the Super Chevy Show participants. It has a short chute into a wide slalom then a reducing radius sweeper into a close slalom then an increasing radius curve and finally an offset slalom. I carried so much speed out of the first slalom I kept on accelerating through the decreasing radius turn till I completely lost it! Two countersteering maneuvers and off the course - the grass was slick and the wall was coming at me fast. Time to concede defeat - countersteer to the lock and brakes to the floor. I slid past the tire barrier and 6 feet from the wall it was over. Breathe. Breathe damnit! O.K back on course.

That was my second run with the ZR1 Swaybars. They don't lean at all and the tires give only the briefest warning of letting go. My next two laps were the best I've ever done (now that I know what the limits of this configuration is). The Corvette guys are puzzled how I'm keeping up. Best mod I've done yet for the road course/Autocross. I'll be looking for Z06 springs at Bloomington Gold.

Glad to hear the wall was still six feet away when the car stopped. XLR's colliding with walls must be an expensive proposition.

Yikes! Glad to hear you and the car are ok though. That was a bit close!

Moved the equinox in the garage because it was too close to the door and my grandma was afraid the door might bite it or something. Oil light (or gravy light as I call it because it looks like a dripping gravy boat) stayed on for over a minute after startup. Looks like a trip to the mechanic is in order (I hope it logged a code). I hope it's not the oil pump, but have a bad feeling it is. I've had it stay on for over 10 seconds a few times this month on startup, but thought nothing of it until it came on for a few seconds while driving the other day then for a very long time after startup. The oil is not burnt/ milky, and it has enough in it, so the only thing left to be wrong with it is pressure.

So what color was Grimace originally? Was it like a, well, Grimace Purple? Or more Barney Purple? Or just a more standard burgandy that faded horribly? Or that greyish purple color you could get on mid 90's Camaros???

The 95-96 Fleetwood is a beautiful car in white. I only wish the factory also added a white interior....

Reset the codes. It was time for early afternoon cruise but Aurora's red brake warning light refused to go off and it was accompanied by engine control system fault text. I actually had to be somewhere and did not want to change cars so as desperate fix-it attempt I just cleared all codes and all resumed to normal.

Later I took a small drive of appr. 40 min., everything works so I'm inclined to think this might be yet another glitch brought on by low voltage in battery.

None of the above. Originally purchased by another guy on the wagon forum, it was a dark maple burgundy color (not DCM, though) with really bad paint. For jokes, it was painted purple and re-christened Grimace. The name sort of stuck, we picked it up super cheap, but the motor blew up. The paint, obviously, did not fare so well.

The car was originally a work wagon for some painters, and it was rode hard and put away wet. We got our investment back out of it, and never put any money into the car, so it's not like a bad thing, but I will still miss it. As far as anyone knows, it's the earliest production 1991-1996 B-wagon with a build date of November 1990, and the last six of the VIN are like 000139.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Rode in my Dad's new F-150. DAMN! I didn't know they could be so quiet! Quieter than the DeVille. But nothing will top the cloud ride and recliner soft seats

I will just have to pull trim, do some sanding, and not get any form of repaint this summer. My "banker" advised against it, and since he's been right before, I will try my hand. Thanks for nothing, Pioneer Manor This college student WILL NOT be back after he graduates.
