actually back in the mid 80's - 91 or 92, you could get an astrofari with a 5 speed manual trans. in the early 90's it was called the GT package I believe. they're incredibly rare (for good reason- no one wants a stick van)

anyways, the small brake pedal is a total non issue. the pedal is roughly the size of a clutch pedal though. the thought with the small pedal is that you will put your left foot up in the hole next to the brake pedal (yeah right!). I put my foot on the floor or the wheel well.

and yeah, as soon as the van comes back from chicago (my dads taking it on a road trip on the weekend) I'll be spending about a week detailing it. the floor is tan/ brown. its supposed to be light gray. amazingly the back of the van is fairly clean (compared to the front of the van). oh- and its got a crapload of hard candy that melted in the "glovebox" and all over the floor. thats gonna be fun to remove (also found a few exploded cans of soda under the seats- mmmm).

I almost bought an Aerostar with a manual trans. Still my favorite minivan of all time.

What's wrong with the Aerostar? I know it's not much to look at, but not many cars were back in those days. My uncle had one just like this:

A guy that works for my stepdad had an 80's Dodge Caravan. Except it was called something else, I don't remember. It was a cargo van. No windows, no seats, no carpeting. It had a 4-cylinder and a 5-speed manual. It was a hoot to drive. Not many 4 cylinder vehicles can do burnouts. But that one could. Trust me.

The Aerostar was a fine van, they're just homely. A loaded out one with the manual would be interesting.

They probably don't exist anymore. I had a line on a mint one circa 1998. It was dark red/silver with the ground effects. Yet another car I passed on and regret it now. There was a dark green SHO on that list too.

I am not sure that a MG TD (1950 to 54), which only came a four speed manual, could do a burnout under any circumstances! A Morris minor also come to mind!

Ok, ok, you got me there. Those could still do it, but might need a little help.

Let me rephrase - Any remotely modern 4 cylinder vehicle. When the Toyota Tercel and the '80's Chevy Nova can manage, not much else is surprising.

UGH. The Roadmaster is in the shop. It wasn't the master cylinder that was the cause of a soft brake pedal, it's the driver side rear wheel cylinder leaking. So I dropped it off just a little while ago so he'll have it first thing in the morning. It's getting new brake shoes, new wheel bearings, new wheel cylinders, new axle seals, and fresh gear oil in the rear end.

While I had a little motivation I went out and washed the Explorer and Ducky.

After that I decided to drop the top, give Ducky a drink, and go for a quick ride.

called the shop thats working on my vans. found out my safari has a few leaky gaskets (damn intake) so they're being replaced while the motor is out. they also put a new starter on it (conversion van had brand new starter on the blown motor). I also found out my conversion has its own heater and AC system in the back. sweet!

Scrubbed all the cicada guts off the windshield of my truck today. They didn't get bad until today, windshield hit 7 or 8 on the way to and from work today, wipers had a couple stuck in them. At this rate I'll have to scrub the headlights to see at night.
