I reinstalled both mirrors, vinyl top trim, door latches, trunk trim, window trim, windshield trim, hood trim, and hubcaps on my 77 CDV. I'm not finished, but I'm getting closer.

I wonder what happened and what's causing this.....it's something in the rear drum brakes. But, it's intermittent...it doesn't do it all the time...

Also worth noting, I heard a similar loud bang from the rear axle last week as well. I had the car parked outside for a few days, when it had rained hard. I jumped in it and put it in gear and then heard that same noise from the rear axle. Also, my brakes don't feel as strong as they used to. There's more pedal travel before they grab.

When I brake, something grabs and lets go real hard now too. It no longer brakes smoothly, but it still has brake pressure. Something big has gone wrong and I don't feel safe any more in it nor do I feel like sinking another few hundred fixing it.
    Broken spring?
Pull the wheel and drum off and look for things that don't look right.

A stick shift in a car like Seville would be hindrance instead of a joy, IMO same goes for a stick in a Corvette. When there is sufficient power to make an automatic provide the same pleasure and performance then I am all for it. But in a light, moderately powered car my choice would be a manual transmission. In my more youthful years I drove plenty of stick shift cars in L.A. traffic and never found it an undue hardship ..... but of course in those days we didn't have all the gadgets and sound systems to distract us from the pleasure of driving a good machine.
Very well put. In the late '90's when I was looking for a "fun" car, I ended up in a lot that had 2 Mustangs. The first was an '89 LX convertible, but it had a 4-banger under the hood with a 5-speed. The other was a '90 Coupe with a 5.0. I decided I'd rather have the convertible, even though it came with a small engine. That car was a blast to drive with the 5-speed stick. I never had any complaints about lack of power. Now a 4-cylinder with an automatic - I would have kept looking.

Replaced coolant temp sensor yesterday because it broke.

O2 sensor arrived today, too. Was going to replace that, but it's pouring rain. No thanks.

Car's running rich. Threw a code the other day. Checked it with a paper clip - O2 sensor. Easy enough.

I was getting a a notice vibration from 60-70mph so I decided to balance my tires today. Well sure enough, both sway bar end links are broken, the driver side cv boot is busted, an my tie rods were a bit loose.

Bought the new parts and axles and getting everything installed tomorrow. Can't be too upset since the car is 13 year old with 120k on the clock. Just sucks with then unexpected find.
