Understood - both my parents, 2 sisters, and all 4 grandparents drove stick - but in 2013 ????? We have a slew of CF members who have never seen a clutch pedal much less the guts of a Muncie 4-speed !

(My mother's (Mercury) Comet station wagon was nicknamed "Vomit". The thing had the 3 on the tree and a straight 6 with pistons the size of pencil erasers.)

Well, we're on a Cadillac forum. In general, driving a manual isn't really seen as a criteria for Cadillac ownership....

I know that, but I'm saying the majority of people who sign up here do so because they own (or owned, at one point) a Cadillac.

It was for us. The only CURRENT production Cadillac that interested us was the ATS. And we wouldn't have bought it with the auto trans they put in them. Neither of us care for autos and maybe its just from not having bought one since '91 (Syclone was worth putting up with an auto) but the ATS test drives with the auto trans were excruciating, the memory of which I had been spared (until this thread) by the hysterical amnesia it provoked.

Found out the van has rocker rust A quarter size bubble appeared under the drivers door today (wasn't there yesterday). Looks like it will be going to the body shop this summer. Also, the fan has started vibrated (going out) and it lost high again. Looks like it's time to get another harness, relay pack, and fan from the junkyard (again).

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Driving home from work in the LeSabre, I'm braking to stop and I heard a loud bang from the rear end. Also a thump-thump-thump at low speeds from the rear axle area. When I brake, something grabs and lets go real hard now too. It no longer brakes smoothly, but it still has brake pressure. Something big has gone wrong and I don't feel safe any more in it nor do I feel like sinking another few hundred fixing it.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

I've got a friend interested in buying it. I told him what was going on, just to make him aware.

I just took it for a quick spin around the block and it exhibited none of the issues it had an hour ago. Weird.

It is not worth the risk! Get rid of that thing! Who knows when and where it may happen again, and what may happen! Get something reliable and safe.
