Bought another UX1 radio, some interesting orange caddy floor mats, the strip for murdocks bumper on his SDV, a radio for a friends camaro, and a CD player for the van (dad wanted a CD player to replace the factory one that jams and is flat sound wise.)

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Went to a car wash after work. Because I was in the Cadillac, I left thirty dollars wealthier, due to betting on my car in a random, makeshift stereo competition. The benefits of this particular car wash being only 1/4 mile from the county line (at four corners, where four counties meet) are very few. Today, I found a new one. On a related note, only I understood the irony in the kid with the Mazda playing some song that continually said "We roll in Cadillacs" after telling me how much nicer his car was than mine.

Flushed old, murky brown power steering fluid with fresh Dexron III. Now it's nice and red. Car also had started bogging down badly today and the SES light came on. Scanner said Cylinder 2 had issue. Swapped coil pack to Cylinder 1, drove the car down the road and it started back again. Scanned again, said Cylinder 1 was issue. New coil pack ordered (well new used coil pack) and should be here tomorrow or Monday.

Put new Michelin Defenders (the HydroEdge have been discontinued) on the '02 SLS last week. The Hydro Edge tires which we put on when we got the car six years ago with 23,000 miles on it weren't even close to having the tread worn down even with 40,000 miles accumulated over the last five and half years of use, but felt with all the I-95 use this car gets it was time for some fresh rubber. I rode 150 miles out to Farmville and back in this car yesterday and can report the defenders seem to ride great .... they are reputed to be excellent in the rain also, like the Hydro Edges. No series 5 Seville shimmy with either of these two Michelin series tires over a range of 10 to 100 miles per hour, so all is good!

The auto release never worked in my 91, part of the charm of owning a 20 year old car I told myself.

As for the Lexus, I washed and waxed her on Monday. First time waxing that car, took about an hour and a half with me taking my time. Waxing my old 95 was like a 2.5 hour ordeal, the 91 with the wire wheels took even longer with all the toothbrush and pipe cleaner nonsense on those wheels.

I'm also considering driving all the way back up to New Jersey and burning down the glass shop where the original owner got the windshield replaced several years ago. Noticed two rust bubbles forming on the leading edge of the roof where it meets the windshield. They're both smaller than a pencil eraser, but it still pisses me off to no end that somebody did a shitty job and now I have to deal with removing the windshield, grinding out rust, and praying that the body shop can match the 3 stage pearl white paint.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

I don't get it. I know of a place named Farmville though. They have a nice little cemetery there.

Today I did not do too much (because it is still early)

Discussed Hearses and replacement parts. A friend in the group who leads The Graveyard Mafia was surprised when he asked me where he could find replacement brake/reverse lamps for his '75 Hearse when I notified him that though they were OEM GM parts that Cadillac sent out for Commercial Chassis use, they were not actually for Cadillacs. They are really from Chevy Malibu wagons of the same vintage.
This may be the only thing I truly specialize in, but it's a good thing I know this nonsense.

Have to get in touch with some locals who run a Storage business (naturally we make good friends) to see if they would like to join us when we take command of The Orlando Hilton for three days later this month. He fits right into our group, while retaining a bit of Southern Flare.

    77CDV and 77CDV like this.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

We used to do it at the Wyndham, but now that they have set it to be demolished, we have gathered our collective minds and decided the Hilton would be a better choice. Only change is it is now the last weekend of October, rather than the First.

Essentially, a group of us organizes this massive gathering of several hundred people. By day, it is a massive convention with parties, shenanigans, group events, celebrities, various shows, guest panels, instructional demonstrations and all kinds of things of that nature, mostly themed towards Halloween/Horror films/videogames and the like as well as a massive vendor room (Where people like me make a killing over the weekend selling whatever it is we're good at making)

By night, it is even more partying. I am beyond words to describe such nighttime shenanigans. Every year ends up being one of those "If you were there, no explanation is necessary. If you were not, no explanation is possible." kind of things. Lots of booze, celebrities, mayhem and scantily clad girls. Pretty much what you would expect from an event I help organize. Sounds my life outside work.

We are divided in organizing the nonsense, as between the lot of us, we specialize in various things, so some manage the theatre, the bands, the pool parties, the vendors, the volunteers, etc. My particular group and I, my Hearse Family, if you will, will be there en masse with a pack of Hearses from far and wide, as well as whatever other cars are deemed worthy in our clique. Annually, this always includes a '58 Plymouth Fury and a V8 street buggy with Machine guns on it, as well as the occasional 50's suicide rods, various customs and whatnot. This year, we are trying to see if anyone else has any bikes to bring. Also, we've been given the entire courtyard for doing our part, which includes a stage as well. Hopefully, this means we will not have to have people towed when they decide to kind of park in the middle of the car show, because they are too lazy to go find their own parking space.

The whole event kicks off with a massive "Zombie Walk" of hundreds of civilians marching or rather, lurching down International Drive (which holds up traffic in the tourist district for like an hour. Win) dressed as, you've guessed it, Zombies. Cool event, because it starts at an UNO's Pizzeria who sponsors some of the weekend shenanigans. Any time we get to stand on our Hearses, slicing up pizza/various things just for the sake of destruction with chainsaws and throwing it into crowds of Zombies is a good day.

All the local business get into it, the tourists get a kick out of it and it gives me a chance to hang out with friends I do not see nearly enough (Sadly, one of them will be in touring the Northeast this year and not be present). As you walk up and down International Drive, you can tell which people are there for the event. Besides, I'll be getting paid. Last year it rained ALL day for all three days, but I didn't mind. My Cadillac also somehow got a cool trophy.
