Ran ELWOOD to 160+ on the Dyno to blow out all the carbon. 3 Pulls: first was super dirty, second brought the white smoke, third was clean with no meth left over and 19lbs of boost (Gotta get a Gates SC belt). Full race tune's gonna take a week, can't wait.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Fiddled with the '93 today. It had a slightly rough idle to it, so I figured I'd do some clean-up.

Replaced the old air filter while I was in there.

Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the butterflies before hand. Nice and clean now, front and back.

This was white when I started.

Fired it up and revved the engine to work the throttle body cleaner through it. Left a nice soot-patch in the driveway from all of the filth I scrubbed out of it. I also replaced what I'm sure was the original PCV valve. It wasn't seized, but it certainly didn't rattle anywhere near as freely as the new one.

I'm happy to report that my car now idles nice and smooth. It's crazy how much better it is, I didn't think it was that bad until I felt the difference. And my throttle action is nice and slick too!

Oh, and my brother (who was so kind as to stand on the throttle for me so I could clean the backside of the butterflies) went around the back of my car, went fishing, and pulled this ugly thing off of my trunk. I just need to hit it with some Goo-Gone and it'll look good as new!

Just saw my hooptielac driving down the street. It's loud and nice looking Called the shop and the manager was taking it out for a spin. Mechanic who worked on it said everything is done but AC lines and exhaust.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Since last Spring I have been having an intermittent mild rattle coming from, it seemed, the dash area. It all started when a truck thrrew a traffic cone into my lane in such a way that I could not avoid hitting it. Stopped, didn't see any damage, didn't feel anything when I drove on, but when I went to back into my sloping up hill driveway the Seville belched a large black plastic elongated bulb from under its' right front fender. I picked the black plastic thing and took it to Firestone for them find where it came from and replace it with a new on. It urned out to be a reservoir (I had thought it was a reservoir for something) for the power HVAC system. Anyway they replaced it with a new one and I got my car back. But there was a problem I now had a faint intermittent rattle that sounded like it was coming from the dashboard. I emptied the glove compartment thinking that might cure the rattle, but no such luck.

I had Firestone look for the source of rattle (actually I thought maybe the mechanic had left one of his tools in the engine compartment when they replaced the reservoir. But they said they couldn't find anything amiss.

Well, today the car went in for its' annual Virginia safety check ..... and low and behold they found broken exhaust system straps on the tail pipes. One side was shot and the other was going to soon follow into failure. The tech got those installed on both sides and "Voila!" no more intermittent rattles.

    I am a happy man!

Talked to my mechanic. I will be picking up my caddy tomorrow after class. Total labor cost for the swap is 1029 dollars, which was about 300 less than I had figured. Looks like I can afford new shocks before winter

got ahold of the insurance company need to go to a body shop now and get them to give an estimate on damage
tirekingdom told me the caster it off and they can't algihn it they think there is subframe or cradle damage someone it got shifted and the only way that could have happened is perhaps from the pothole i hit a few weeks ago i hit it hard
    enought to damage the tire
i wonder if that could have also caused the strut mount to go bad oh well will have to now wait and find out what all is going on

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Today I fired the body shop that's been working on the Fleetwood. Finally lost all patience with the guy. Car is now at a different shop, this one recommended by the guy who's doing the upholstery. The upholstery guy is actually doing a good job at a reasonable pace, so here's hoping his recommendation pans out!
