Re: What did you do to your car today?

Dropped it off at the dealer today, there's an open recall on the high pressure fuel pump so they're replacing that right now along with updating the car's software. I could have gotten it done last week but I wanted to get my car back in one day then so I did it today instead.

    Got a 2011 335i xdrive loaner.

New for 2011 is the N55 motor. Still makes 300hp/300tq, but now it's a single turbo setup (twin scroll) and they added valvetronic. The nice thing about it is that you can hear much more turbo spool, and a subtle "psssshhhhhhh" whenever you let off the throttle. It's a little smoother than the N54 and the torque peaks 200RPM earlier at 1200, but the N54 still breathes a little better and makes more power in the higher RPM range.

Today, I did nothing to the car directly. Still waiting on the power steering pump to be rebuilt.

I cleaned out the garage a bit (my damn tool set is NOT getting disorganized!) and ordered a remote unit for the Bricklin doors. Also ordered a "Cadillac Allante - Limited Edition" book, similar to my Bricklin Gold Portfolio which is a bunch of reprinted news articles. I've been meaning to buy it for some time. I'll display it with the car when car season rolls along and let interested parties read at their leisure.

Truly looks like the proverbial "atomic blivet" - 40 pounds of s**t crammed into a 20 pound bag. The Sevilles aren't much better, and most new cars seem to be going for the fuel cell look............ it ain't like the ol' 65 Chevelle SS 327...............

Certainly the Sevilles were early on the scene for plastic shrouding of the engine and components. My own personal experience came with the 2000 Catera with its' cosmetic cladding, but I was probably late to the party!

Aww yeah. I still have a minor exhaust leak at the headers to fix, but I didn't have the time, and I'm not worried about it. It's much quieter than it was though, especially inside the car. And for $12 I'm really impressed with the horns.

As for what I did to the car? Drove it 301 miles today, and counting. Time to run to the grocery store for some food for the weekend.

When it sounds like this stock, who cares how much plastic is on top of the engine

ill give the germans one thing, they manage to make the plastic engine cover functional. the one in the GTI contains the air filter. and it took two of us almost an hour to replace it. freaking german engineers.

Re: What did you do to your car today?

I dig the horn. A lot.

Exhaust was discussed earlier in the thread, but I don't know all the details since it was done before I bought the car. I know the muffler is a magnaflow of some sort, and the headers are Hedmans. It's only a single pipe.

Got license plates for the DTS. Drove the dog to the boarder loose in the back of the Concours. He did well, laying in the back floorboard.

He's not getting in the DTS...
