    Related to the thread:

Bought a colder (160 degree) thermostat. I believe my car was tuned in the past. My logic behind this is that I have no catalytic converters, I still have O2 sensors, yet I throw no check engine light. I also have no AIR pump, and again, no CEL. Yes, the bulb is still in the socket. Since replacing my t-stat with an OE spec 195 degree one, the car has run much warmer than in the past (not "overheating", but still warmer than I'm used to seeing). So I'll replace that on Tuesday when I get some time.

My 1965 Chevelle Malibu SS used a 180 degree thermostat. What is the rationale for running a cold engine ??? It sure doesn't make any more power or economy.

While this wasn't "today", I had three ducks in a row, while switching warehouse locations on Friday:

    NOW
    '04 Escalade EXT (8/07-?)
    '70 Grand Prix Model J (4/09-?)
    '95 Roadmaster Estate (4/10-?)
    '94 Roadmaster Estate (5/10-?)
    '08 DTS Platinum (2/11-?)
    '97 Riviera S/C ('06-08 and 8/11-?)
    '85 Toronado Caliente (4/14-?)

    PAST
    '92 Toronado ('95-99)
    '99 Grand Prix GTP ('99-02)
    '02 Avalanche North Face ('02-04)
    '93 Roadmaster ('04-07)
    '04 Avalanche Z71 ('04-07)
    '00 Eldorado ETC ('08-11)
    '95 Deville Concours ('07-11)

    NEXT
    '71-72 Riviera
    '86-91 M-B 560SEC

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Now, as for today, it's a totally different, and long ass story. I've got business in Atlanta this week. As I hate flying, I thought I'd take the opportunity to haul some items from my office, instead of shipping them. I've only got 45K miles on the EXT, and it has one more year of GMPP and 30K more miles -- so why not? If my load levelers make it through the week, they'll pretty much survive anything I'll throw at them.

First are the two industrial/commercial food insulators, (basically heavy ass duty coolers that have slots for trays to stack inside of them. They JUST fit in the 48" span. They had to be docked together to clear -- so they're not going ANYWHERE.... Not seen however, are the NINE rock hard frozen Sam's Club double packs of pork shoulder and the 20# of dry ice that are inside the coolers. The dolly they can be wheeled around on is also in view:

Next, I pulled into the warehouse to load the rest:

The main thing is the ~75# meat slicer that was a bitch trying to load...

The cryovac equipment is going to have to go in back with Beretta -- poor baby may have to make do with only 80% of the rear cabin area...

Now, after basically playing "Jenga" for an hour, I've wedged and sandwiched every possible thing into the back of the EXT.

Now, for a 15 hour drive tomorrow...B'Ville -> STL -> ATL (unless I have to stop early...)...

Re: What did you do to your car today?

bought some M105, W4000 and W7000 pads, a Harbor freight rotary, a 1200W Husky halogen lamp stand and practiced on the beater. Also wet-sanded the entire hood before giving up after going through almost 1/4 of the M105. I'll have to just finish taking the sanding marks out tomorrow and do the rest of the car, I was going for semi-full correction, but after 155K of abuse and literally more scratches than I can count on the hood alone-- I'll have to settle for simply swirl and water etching removal. As I'd rather not go though the $32 bottle of M105 before using it on the Cadillac.

This was my first rotary use, and the only paint-removal of the day was the crappy re-spray on the miss-aligned fender that was raised slightly above the hood. The actual area I was working on though-- came out much better.

Autocrossed the V yesterday. Far from the fastest there but I stayed on street tires and had to toss it around a bit. Vids to come later...

That tax money pays for the 400,000 jobless crackheads living in here in Memphis.., recently crowned as "poorest city in the nation".

Selling that car was always a regret (I can't begin to explain the work I had done to it - the attention and detail I had given it), but necessary to complete my mission of making it through school without loans. Now I've done that, I'm making good money and don't owe anyone a dime, and finding it again on CL seems unreal. Logically, I know that it still doesn't make sense to have it around, but I miss it...

I at least want to hear how it was for him and why he's selling it - but, like a moron, I also asked how flexible he is on the price

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Last autocross of the season with my BMW club today.

Got in 9 runs total which was great. First five were in the dry and I was really getting into a groove with the course, posting times around the same as some modded M3s there once my tires warmed up. Then in the afternoon it rained real hard and my times dropped by about 4-5 seconds but it was still fun. It was more drift practice for me then since my rear tires need to be replaced. I don't think my car has ever been this dirty

autocross always reminded me of an 1/8th mile. Not enough to satisfy you, just enough to play with your emotions.
