What did you do to your car today?

Lets keep this a continuing, never gonna die thread.

For the Toyota truck, I changed the plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, and changed the oil in it this morning. Also ran a can of seafoam through it before I changed the plugs, gotta love that huge cloud of smoke. Love how stupid easy the 22R-E is to work on. Runs a lot smoother now, and fixed my rough idle problem.

Tomorrow I'm going to wax and detail the Cadillac. Gonna be a long ass day.

I think he meant that American cars have better styling.

I can't comment on that since there haven't been many good looking cars introduced in my lifetime (American or otherwise), in my modest opinion anyhow.

But that is what opinions are for. I mean, there has to be at least someone out there who though the Ford Escort or the Mitsubishi Lancer were nice looking cars.

It is however true that, even when comparing the two aforementioned cars, the American car tends to universally look nicer.

I did nothing to my Cadillac, but she gave me a code and "service stability system" alarm as new year gift!
1288 Steering Sensor Circuit Malfunction
I read that the sensor is very sensitive, and also in telescopic wheels the extra movements of the wheel might lead to bad connection. I hope adjusting the wiring will take care of the problem. Else it's time to spend about $400 or more....

Finished installing lower manifold gasket, rtv sealant, upper plenum gaskets, and new injector o-rings on our 2006 chrysler town and country LX van. Oh and cleaned the throttle boddy, replaced plugs, cables, air filter and coolant.

Went to the junkyard today again, but this time the BIG one in West Palm. It was originally going to just be my dad, my sister's boyfriend, and me, but a buddy of mine from the wagon forum sent me a facebook message, and I called him this morning so he also joined in with his son. Fun day. Got some parts, had some good Mexican for lunch, and got to have a mini wagon parade. Hooray!

Scored 2 LT1 PCMs, which I will re-sell and will pay for the rest of my goodies.

For myself:
The missing cupholders for my Blazer console. Just need to paint them black, but I am VERY happy about this.
A cruise control module, because my cruise doesn't work. After replacing it, it still doesn't work. Time to go to the forums for this one...
A jack from a boxy Caprice. The 91-96 cars just come with scissor jacks, which SUCK (4200 pound car, plus all the things I keep in it regularly, with a scissor jack? REALLY GM? REALLY?) This one is sort of like a ratchet jack or "farm jack". MUCH easier to use to lift the behemoth on the side of the road.
Various bowtie emblems off of all sorts of things. I like these. I stick them on all sorts of stuff. My fridge has one, I think my laptop is next. :)

Dad also got a chrome trim piece for his Park Avenue that was broken, and a new passenger side mirror.

_______________

After returning home, bought the correct temperature thermostat. Car ran MUCH better. Felt like it had more power, wasn't stumbling. Awesome. Then as I get close to home, I notice the gauge creeping up toward the H, and sure enough, it got into the red and the temp light comes on. Luckily, I was right on my street, so I pull in and pop the hood to check my coolant level, and sure enough I blew a damn radiator hose.

I'll buy it tomorrow. It's dark, and I don't want to deal with it.

Man, that's some luck!

I had one pop off (but not break) on an old BMW years ago. I was about a mile away from the house and the hose clamp was gone when I looked under the hood. I was able to slip the hose on just well enough to limp back at low revs.

We drove up to Centreville - Southern States - and picked up 40# of bird seed and some chicken wire. Hopped over to my favorite back road in Caroline County and did a couple of leisurely runs to 100. Took the twisties back home (covered 75 miles), shut down the car and lit off the leaf blower to clean some of the mess left by the cold front passage last night........dry leaves blow out of the woods during a gusty nor'wester.

Sounds like pretty normal stuff for a 20 year old car. My Cadillac, also a '92, would have irregularities like that all the time, weird shit breaking one thing after another, nothing too expensive or crucially important, but annoying nonetheless. I wouldn't complain at all.

drove the V around going shopping some more..

Washed the Audi and half-deatiled it. Started fixing the passenger seat lumbar, fixed the broken part-- managed to break another critical piece in the process. Now I get to glue and try to repair 10 year old plastic tabs.

/yay.

Ok, so this morning my SES light comes on, not sure why, i did however forget to connect the sensor on my air filter, after putting a new WIX one on. so did that, all i did this weekend was replace plugs, wires, oil, and air filter...double checked all my connections after pulling over on my way to work, popped the hood open and everything looks good, no oil leak, or anything, scratching my head...
