I plan on keeping this car for at least three more years, so for now I'll modify it as I see fit. After that, an M3 may be in the cards.

The people I know who went from 335i to M3 don't really have any regrets, it's a whole different kind of beast. The low end torque of the N54 is really hard to beat, but where it loses steam in the upper rev band is where the M3 picks up (plus that 8400rpm redline = )

Go back in time and look up chopped, channeled, frenched and leaded........as regards late 40's and early 50's Fords and Mercuries. ...........and, if you were lucky, pin striping by Von Dutch himself. A one-off T-shirt by Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. Been there, done that.

No tint shop or neon lights from some aftermarket toy store comes even remotely close.

Or maybe you took a hint from George Barris....................anybody remember Kargoyle ????

Depending on where I'd be driving, I would likely prefer the 335's suspension over M3, and I prefer N54 to S65 (S56? cant remember) for reasons of purity.

Do engine swaps count? I dropped a 389 tri-power engine from a wrecked GTO in my '66 Pontiac 6 cyl LeMans back in '75. Ran a Muncie 4spd with a Mr Gasket V-gate shifter.

Kargoyle is so badass that it sits alone on its very own custom fabricated pedestal of badassery.

Re: whats the most extrem customizing you did to a vehicle you have owned

None of my rides have been customized on the exterior. I've never really seen exterior mods that pleased me. Mechanical stuff is different. The '76 Thunderbird with the factory 460 4bbl and factory duals (still has the ford part #'s on the pipes) has a crane cam, edlebrock manifold, msd ignition, and barry grant carburetor.
The 71 Thunderbird with factory 429 power has a holley street performer carb instead of the autolite monster as does the 390 powered 67 Thunderbird.

The 75 hearse has a holley street performance carb replacing the Q-jet and ditto for the 76 hearse. Both are getting MSD ignitions soon.

most custom stuff done to a car I had? does the bose stereo on my 86 caddy count? and no, I dont need to go to a mental institution...yet.
I cant believe i thought of putting a set of 70's poncho rally II rims on it (and a set of Progressive 3 tooth sawblades). then again, those rims do look cool on anything...
