They even offered us one of Titans brothers, because someone sent him back (he's even bigger than Titan). Werner Hafen those are the breeders we got Titan from. They are great people.
Thanks for sharing the name of that breeder so I know who NOT to use in the future.

The ride home from the breeder:

For the record: bullmastiff/chow chow is a terrible combination for a dog. Big, strong, bull neck, with a bad temper can make for a great guard dog that's challenging to maintain control over.

    RIP Zeus:

Dang near as long as the outdoor dining table:

Sadly I don't have any digital pics of my first female bullmastiff to share. She was always a wonderful dog with a great temperament that loved people.
The above post is my 2 cents....nothing more.

Zeus looks to be very old. How old is he in this picture?

And that puppy is so adorable...

By the way Rolex, what are the main reasons and advantages that you buy a dog from a breeder instead of adopting an unknown puppy from shelter?

Zeus (the BM/Chow mix) was 8-9 years old in that photo. I adopted him, his mother (my first bullmastiff), and all 13 of his siblings when they were only 6 weeks old. The mama dog was dehydrated, starving to death @ about 75#, and covered in swollen ticks. All the pups were very sick and I eventually lost a couple that were too far gone. Zeus was the largest and sturdiest of the litter. In his unkempt, dehydrated, starving, and tick covered state @ 6 weeks he walked right up to me and gave me the biggest GTFO of my territory bark he could make. He was a born guard dog. I found suitable homes for the pups and kept the mama dog and zeus. Mama lived to be 13 years old by my guess-timation and Zeus lived to 9. He was MUCH larger than his mom.

Dogs have always been my favorite companion animal, and prior to adopting a bullmastiff every dog I have ever owned was an adopted shelter mutt. I believe the mutts are sometimes the best dogs and for the $25 donation the shelters ask you couldn't want for a better opportunity if you're looking for a canine buddy. In particular I have been bitten by the bullmastiff "bug." I really like the breed, and now that I make a good living and can afford the high cost of buying a papered dog I do so from a reputable breeder. The pure breed should be more predictable in terms of it's build, size, temperament, and overall characteristics. Unlike buying a mutt from a shelter where you're not always sure how big it will get, how hyperactive it will be, what kind of temperament it may have, etc. Typically people buying from breeders will take those dogs and breed them or show them. I don't do either. My BM is just a family pet, so buying from a breeder is overkill/unnecessary expense (which I'm guilty of on many fronts).
The above post is my 2 cents....nothing more.

    Re: Pictures of our Pet's

I have been a dog lover my whole life and have been fortunate to have had over twelve dogs (we usually had two or more at a time so they would have company during the day when we were away). Most of our dogs have been gotten from dog rescue organizations. There are many breed specific rescue organizations around the country. While I agree that mixed breeds make great pets (probably the healthiest) I have been attracted to pure breeds whether from a breeder of a rescue because their size and temperament (particularly size) are more predictable than is the case of a mixed breed dog, this is particularly the case when getting a puppy as opposed to an adolescent or mature dog. Given a choice I would select a six to eight month old dog from a breed rescue. However, both ""pound" dogs and breed rescue dogs are screened for temperament and every effort is made to find suitable homes for those that pass the health and temperament test. Under no circumstances would I buy from a pet shop, dogs found in pet shops usually come from "puppy mills" and are of dubious quality, not to mention outrageously over priced!

If wanting a puppy a reputable breeder is probably the best bet for getting a sound pup representing the best characteristics of the breed. If you are looking for a dog out of the puppy stage, talking with reputable breeders in your are can be very useful as they may have know of a dog needing a new home.

Whether from a rescue organization or a reputable breeder our dogs have all prove wonderful pets and have provided great companionship and unconditional love throughout their all to short lives!

    Re: Pictures of our Pet's

My mom's oldest sister has owned a kennel for as long as I can remember. In 1992, she took in a beagle that had come from a troubled home, and we got it for free, had it for about two weeks until one day my dad accidentally left the gate in our chain link fence open and he ran away, never to be seen again. Ever since then we've stuck to cats.

The stray with circles on its sides is rewarded for keeping bird crap off my cars. The neighbor girls named him "dude". We have a wild cat problem.
