I thought it would be cool to have a thread where we show our cars as they sit right now...without being cleaned and prepped at all.
Here's mine as of this morning. It snowed last Friday night, and I hadn't washed it yet....so it's caked in salt. But I washed it this afternoon, so it's clean now.
^Haha, saw right through me on that one Dave! I love that car. This weekend it gets new front brakes and wheel bearings, and should hopefully be good for winter.
There is a dent and scratch in the rear passenger door. Once I'm done with the mechanicals, I'm calling our dent guy to pull it. Also calling our interior lady to fix the 3 or 4 small splits in my driver's armrest before they spread.
Matt that is a nice Caddy there. Love the 91-93 Deville. They still have that old school Cadillac look, but drive nicer/nimbler than the old RWD sleds I owned.
I also think you might have bought "too nice" of a beater if you bothered to claybar and polish it.
Yeah, the Buick I had last winter certainly fit the "beater" vibe a whole lot better. I agree about the looks too. Normally I don't like vinyl tops on these era cars, but I think it looks very stately and appropriate on this one. How about I call it my Formal Winter Vehicle?
My winter beater gets claybar treatments, polish and has a vinyl top. I think it is officially classified as the "Business coupe" though, as the other two coupes look less formal/work professional.
More Headlamp customization. Why. No reason really.
High beams are still violet and Wig-Wag feature is still there. They just get disturbingly brighter and can in fact be turned up even brighter...but that would be obnoxious.
Have to rewire the two sidelamps back in. They still go on when I turn the signals, to illuminate the side of the highway, but I also have a switch that activates them both, without the signals, which is useful in my profession, as on long, winding roads through the wilderness in pitch blackness, it is good to know precisely what is lurking on the roadside.
Funny thing I just noticed. Due to the Infrared lights that are part of my dash cam, you can actually make it out in the photo. Neato.
When the big DeVille was running, and I'd take it to visit my friend that lived way out in the country, I'd have to pass a bunch of fields. The deer loved to hide out there, so I'd just kick my blinker and cornering lamp on, as per what side the field was on. Worked like a charm, and 9/10 times you'd see eyes reflecting off in the fields.
Thank you, I own a detailing business so it stays spotless. Its also not driven often and lives in a garage. Btw it has a little more than an extra 25hp lol which is the reasoning behind the ET streets stuffed up front.
Took these pictures on Sat, Oct 20th after I gave her a rundown with the California car duster and then spray waxed the whole car. The week before I washed her, went over the lower rocker mouldings with a bug/tar remover, and waxed the whole car. If I think its going to rain, I drive the truck. Doing this has kept the car looking pristine for the past 20+ days.
Obviously you can see the Lexus takes up two spots under the carport while the truck sits out in the weather.
I'm also debating getting one of those "long" Japanese number plates in white to help cover up that ugly black plastic plate holder. Still not completely happy with the chrome Lexus plate since it still shows the black plastic border of the plate holder.
Next...tile floor, glass in the sides....track lights....
On the plate, possibly find a sheet of something you could and fit behind the Lexus plate? Vinyl, stainless, aluminum, something like that to "frame" the plate?
Yes they are for northerners and europeans, and all they do for me is leave stupid little holes that are a pain in the butt to fix. I swear to sports. Every time.
