It is, actually. Not like my old house back home. Many people have gotten lost in that one.

I want a Peel P50 for driving around my house. Not because I need it, but because it sounds awesome. Ant that is probably part of the rreason the locals believe I am eccentric.

Since when did you get a Cadillac?

I thought you only had the Shagfari Wagon, the LeSabre and the 15.6 Litre Hooptielac Brougham D'Kevigance.

Cool Friday evening short road trip...

seemed a good idea yesterday. A short drive down to Galveston to board the Bolivar ferry on the way to the Stingaree "Down Under" at Crystal Beach. A cheeseburger and live music was the goal. A few candid cell phone shots...

Naturally a proper vehicle was necessary...

Stopped at the bank's ATM earlier in the day...

Noticed this guy looking for a meal...

    Just prior to success...

Onboard now, left Galveston on the way to Bolivar peninsula...

On the starboard side, a sister ship returning to Galveston from Bolivar...

Ever hear of the "Concrete Fleet"?... ( http://www.crystalbeach.com/selma.htm )

In the channel and on the way out to sea...

The trip back around 11 PM under a clear sky with beautiful full moon was such a pleasure. Bose CD player turned up loud and sun/moon roof wide open. Apologies for the cell phone pic quality. Next trip I"ll try to remember to take the good camera and maybe have a night shot or two as well... :-)
    Best,
    Ron

Re: Candid pictures of our cars.

So a friend put some OLD photos on Facebook today. Okay, she did it like two months ago or whatever and I only noticed today. So maybe it is not technically a candid photo of how my car sits right now, but it is as candid as they come, since I had no knowledge of it until today. If you look closely, one of the fenders is the wrong colour. It was easier to replace than trying to fix the original fender, which has previously been bondo'd and had other attempts to "restore" it prior to my ownership, as did other parts of the car. The original turned out to be rusting horrible and was replaced from a donor vehicle that the same friend's father just happened to have. The car was still scheduled at the paint booth (It was in fact 99% Rustoleum at this point), so I took advantage of it. We spent the afternoon getting it lined up and it fit fantastically. Also got other trim parts and badges from the donor. By this point, nearly ALL of the car lined up acceptable and most of the trim was either on the car or in it's trunk, but was still without the chrome headlamp bezel for the driver's side, which eluded me for at least another year, before I acquired it. A lot of the electronics even worked (though not the ignition lock, as I recall and the car was hotwired if it had to be started). You cannot see in this photo, but the door on the opposite side was just grey primer at the time.

In a way, this was one of the best summers I've had in Florida. Not because of the trouble the three cars (Pontiac, Suburban and a Buick Special) we (some friends and I) were collectively trying to finish gave us, but because of the trouble the lot of us got into outside of all of that. I will be printing this photo for my (physical) album as well.

    Ahh, to be young again.

    ----------

On the subject of Rustoleum, I think new cars and all restorations should all be treated with NeverWet on every surface from here on out. Someone go test that and report back with results.
