The Glock is lighter, $300 less (plenty of $$ left over for leathers), magazines are less expensive, and the Glock has the shorter trigger reset of the two. The 229 is still one of my favorite weapons despite it all.....I just don't carry it because it's too damned heavy for my taste.

Here's a review of the Stoeger from your friends at Guns and Ammo. I have zero personal experience with Stoeger so I won't comment.

    http://www.gunsandammomag.com/ga_han...oger8k_121106/

And IMO if you're considering weapons in the Stoeger's price range you'd do well to consider the Taurus Millenium Pro. I bought one for my mother several months back and it was all I could do not to keep it for myself. It's really a well designed piece, and IIRC I got it new for $350 out the door. Remember the PRO model is the latest edition with all the bugs worked out. Taurus also makes the 24/7 which is a decent piece for the money.

    THere's my 2 cents.

Rolex, my friend, you are a human database when it comes to weapons. I read the article on the Stoeger, and I'm impressed. It's definitely a top contender. The old Cougars were able to accept 15-round mags from the M9s; maybe this will, too. I like the Sig and the Glock, but that $300 difference will like be a decisive factor in which one I choose.

The thing I like about the Glock so far is it`s ability to use higher-capacity mags as backups. I wouldn't mind carrying the 19 with its stock magazine, but having a G17 or G18 magazine as a back-up. That would certainly last a while in a firefight (read, until the cops arrive).

The Stoeger article mentioned a design called "truncated metal jacket". What is that, and how does it compare with JHP?

I know weight seems to be an issue for carrying, and it's completely understandable, but I think if it doesn't bother you to have a few extra ounces on your belt and you don't mind letting others know you're strapped, a Colt .45 is a great carry piece. Grandfather carried one as an MP and when he got out of the service he liked it so much that he bought one and carried it for years.

Oh, I forgot to mention about my P99, it never jams. I put Winchester 112 grain cooper rounds in it, but I cannot think of one time that it jammed. Honestly it's one of the best pistols I've ever used, and while I haven't owned too many I have had the pleasure of shooting many pistols that other shooters have at the range and I still think the P99 is one of the best of them. Other's have also agreed upon trying it that it just has a feel of quality and reliability, not something you can put your finger on but you can feel it.
What trigger do you have on your P99, and what caliber?

    Truncated Metal Jacket (TMJ)

Or I could be horribly wrong, but that's my understanding of a TMJ, unless TMJ is different from TFMJ.

So I am watching these guys on TV point the finger at OJ and they show the guns used.

One happens to be my favorite of the moment, a Berrata 22 Bobcat (mine I added Crimson Trace laser).

I guess I ain't the only one who likes it!

    Really a fun pistol.

Add the Crimson Trace and what a differance!

Doesn't jam and feeds pretty much any ammo brand.

    RATS!!

After waiting for my scope mount for my S&W model 41, I find that one of the scope mounting screw holes is kinda funky and I need to chase the threads.

Anyone know what the tap/thread is?

I found an #8 40 thread on ebay but I don't know if that is the right one.
