want to make a really FUN load
that WILL wake the dead - and rattle your fillings?

    30 grains of Winchester 296 and a 180 grain Winchester JHP -

    chrono's consistently at 1930-FPS - from an 8 3/8 S&W 629 -

    completely safe load -
I have launched thousands of them without a problem -
    unbelievable accuracy -

has been named the "THUNDER-LOAD" - for obvious reasons -

THIS is something I will have to try when I get a 44 mag. That sounds like FUN

As much as I hate to say it, it had to happen. It's only been about a month since the first Ill. CCW permits where issued and some ******* pulls his gun in a dispute.

Lack of training. Problem now solved though.

There will be asshats to be sure, but in the long run CCW will do far more good than harm for IL.
The above post is my 2 cents....nothing more.

I roll my own in .454 flavor.

38 grains h110 and a hornady xtp mag 240 grain does something around 2000 fps, it certainly shows your palm what for.

w296 is for all intents and purposes h110, I swap them out as the same powder, great powder for full house big gun loads, I hear it makes a mean .357 too.

^^^ 240gr @ 2000 fps! That should stop just about any animal on the continent.

Get into the Midway site (Missouri) or Natchez Shooters Supply and put some bucks into a basic handloading setup. It's a fun hobby, cartridge components are still (relatively) cheap and you can tailor loads to your shooting needs. I load a LOT of .38 Spl, .357 Magnum and Colt .45 (Long Colt). For plinking I cast my own lead bullets. For the OMG! loads I use Hornady or Sierra half-jacketed stuff. I use a lot of Unique and Winchester 231 powders.

    Re: Post Your Weapons

I use a Dillon progressive for my .45 & .357. Sure saves a LOT of money on ammo. When I was shooting Practical Pistol competition I was probably loading 100 rounds per week.

    P.S.
I think I still have a single stage if anyone is interested.

So thanks to Americans "hoarding" ammo this year and in 2013 I still can't get my shotgun slugs in 2/34 length and several handgun caliber a have a shipping shortage as well as the prices went up as much as $8 per box! Just some cold hard reality

    Re: Post Your Weapons

Take a look in Natchez - they have 2 3/4" slug loads by at least 2 manufacturers - but they have gone up (again) in price.

When the local KMart stopped selling ammunition (1999) I bought 6 cases of 12 gauge #6 field loads for $26 a case. 250 rounds of slugs for $2 a box of 5 (Remington Slugger - high brass). It's all lead shot, so I cannot shoot it over water.
