jordan, A fair number of us reload - me, I do Colt .45 (Long Colt), .38 Spl, .357 magnum and some 9mm (too small to fool with, though).

Here are some of the every day work horses - we have a 100 yard rifle range and a 50 foot pistol range in the back yard. My neighbor across the road has 8 acres of deer and goose woods and field.

The lower - upside down - DA was my maternal grandfather's Army sidearm - a mint S&W Model 1917 .45 Auto Rim. I shoot .45 Auto in half moon clips and it does quite well.

very, very impressive...That's how they should look before putting them away nice and clean.. I spent some years in the service as well, 92A. Reloads are the way to go with an arsenal similar to the one's here. Bad thing about Glocks is that they tend to be NON-reload friendly. I tried them and got a lot of misfires.. Then after researching, I read that they could explode in the chamber or it was bad for them.. Hell i don't even remember what i read, just heard it was a bad thing. Friend of mine took me to the range, he pulled out close to 30 different rifles, handguns, shotguns.. lol even a 22. pistol.

I asked him how he hides them all from his wife.. he said, Well I had so many when we met. I just tell her "oh that one was in the safe" lol

Nah, glock reloads are fine. Just have to pay attention to what you're doing, as in any reloading.

My .458 Win. Mag. weighs 10.5lbs. and almost everybody that tries it takes one step back. Nobody has offered to shoot it more than once. Before I touch it off I fold up a towel a couple of times and put it between the buttplate and my shoulder. Besides the kick it also torques from spinning up the bullet with the rifling. It's a hoot to shoot. It's an even bigger hoot to watch the untrained shot it. Nobody does it without some blood showing somewhere. Some bloody their nose with their thumb. Some tear up their left hand with the sling swivel. Some get their knuckles on the bolt handle. Some get the middle finger on the right hand with the trigger guard. Have fun.

I got new leather for my Marlin 1895 SBL today. I also installed a safety delete pin. I will be deer hunting with this rifle this year.

The above post is my 2 cents....nothing more.

Koz, I've been wanting a .458 ever since you mentioned yours years and years ago. It'll be a freakin' hoot, I'm sure.

Jordan, you're in CA too, you oughta know that it takes at least 10 days before you can shoot what you buy! ...pickup date is the 4th, and I can guarantee I'll be headed straight to the range that day.

I actually left a box of ammo with my ffl because he wanted to try the thing out. I told him to go for it, but don't complain to me if he hurts himself!

Anyone familiar enough with m4/gau5 to know what would cause the shot grouping to 'cut' the silhouette at two levels like this? It's like the front sight post was unresponsive in between these six clicks. (windage knob was OK) I'm not familiar with the internals of the front sight post adjustment.

Yes this is the m16 side of the paper target--the m4 side was marked up in pen and messy.

    Re: Post Your Weapons

i cycled it full up and full down, and it decided to listen

yeah I attempted a headshot... it's tricky to center the little tiny head on my sitepost... here kitty kitty

the full silhouettes were in prone with sandbag support,
the four shoulder-up silhouettes were in prone with no support (weapon off the ground), and kneeling w/o support... 10 rounds each. can't tell which were which, can ya?

both 150 m silhouettes have overlapping hits...
left side 100m target has a triple.
I forgot to cut the 100m silhouettes at the head and missed 3, nearly 5 that way...
and at the bottom of the 50 m... I don't know what happened to that one. I think it might have been the last shot that I hurried through.

I feel stupid about forgetting to cut the 100m targets properly, and the 50m target? stupid.

I can't wait to go back. I will have my 40/40

Nice grouping. We use to practice with similar target paper up at Fort Hunter Liggett in preparation for M16 qualifying. I believe 37/40 and up is Expert.

    Re: Post Your Weapons

thank you. it's 36 for expert now, but I don't feel good about it at all. 40/40 is perfect! and my 4 misses were just stupid. I wanted to stay at the range for another go SO.BAD, but we had a Lt Colonel with us, and he was cool, but he wanted to leave... I was hoping someone in our group wouldn't qualify so I could sneak into another iteration, but everyone made at least a 23 by lunch. when does that ever happen.

sight picture, and inattention. it's better than last week-- I had a brainfart and put four rounds in each of the top four silhouettes, when they only count for three max. lost 4 that way, missed another one and shot a 35.

I'll get it right next time, Gadget, next tiiiiime

our armorer says he's going to the range himself, Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll jump in with him. I'd march myself to the range on my day off, but I can't do it without the armorer.

this type of thing... kills me. I missed my max score on last week's PT test by 1 point... my second 299/300 in a row. I can't take tomorrow's, because of an early meeting I'm supposed to take notes for. Plus I got funny looks when I asked to be added to the roster, after scoring a near-perfect last week. The way I see it, though, two minutes of pushups, two minutes of situps, and a 2 mile run is getting off easy for PT.

so check this out. one of our grenadiers has the 203 replacement. it looks smaller than 40mm, but I'm pretty sure he said it's the same round as the m203. just... detachable. a spare gun, attached to my gun... here, take this! the whole thing weighed 20 lbs at least, and that was without another potential 3.5 lbs of ammo in it...
