Hi I recently start my first ever restoration project so I will be having tons of question for yall. My first question would be does anybody know where i can order the floor pan located directly beneath the rear seat? Or maybe a complete floor pan? I've seen one to an impala that looks like it would fit anyone have experience with this issue? Thanks

Hey badman,

I was on the hunt for floor pans for my 70 a few years ago. I searched everywhere and called everyone who I thought could help. Here's what I found out.

68-70 were slightly different years and nobody is reproducing them. 1 person said try the pans for year xxxx and with a slight modification they will slip right in. EVERY other retailer, shop, specialist etc said it would be less work to fabricate your own or find a donor. (Which there aren't many)

Bottom line they don't exist to my knowledge. And others won't fit w/o basically mangling them. I just beat the hell out and bent some steel till it was passable and welded in.

Good luck.

Thanks for sharing smelvis... i was afraid that was gonna be the answer. The floor pan under the rear seat looks like swiss cheese and now im going to have to fabricate a floor pan...Well the good thing is I have a plenty of sheet metal buddies that might be able to guide on how to pull this off. Ill let you know how it turns out. Thanks!

i did all the floor pans in my 66 this year, i searched all over the internet for the pan below the rear seat but they dont make it. They make it for previous years. I had to patch a bunch of pieces together and even recreate the supports below where the body mounts go because they were gone. Impala stuff doesnt fit the same ill tell you that. But maybe with some modifications it could. At that point you are spending alot of money for something you have to alter a bunch then you might as well make your own. Use 18-20 gauge steel. I redid my trunk pan too, they want $200 for one, i just bought a 4x8 sheet of 12 gauge steel (extra strength no need for ribs) for $140 and did the trunk along with shaving firewall and other floor pieces.
