    Re: '70sedan deville won't start

    Need a little more info.
Has it run since you have had it? Are you getting spark? Distributor turning? How long is it cranking before you give up? Is it trying to fire? When you pump the throttle are you getting gas from the accelerator pump? Please tell us what you have done, haven't done and what you are unsure of.
    Jeff

    Re: '70sedan deville won't start

Yes I had it running fine . One night it just started to hesitate and stall out , I would step on the gas to keep it going and I would get no response so I towed it home , I have cleaned out the gas tank replaced the fuel sending unit and replaced the fuel pump. I don't know if I'm getting a spark or if the distributor is turning. I don't think the carb is getting gas because when I put gas into the carb from the top it starts for a little bit and then dies thank you for your help I really want to drive it again it is so much fun

Hello Javier, welcome to the forum

To be sure there is some problem in the fuel circuit, feed the carb with a bottle held 3 feet over the engine and a hose in the carb entry and see if it works.

There is a small filter (strainer) inside the carb entry that could be clogged. The main filter is inside the fuel pump. The new pump should have a new filter included.

Here is an exploded view of the 69-70 carb where you will identify this part:

I hope you have your caddy running again. Driving these cars is a special experience

    Re: '70sedan deville won't start

For starters I cleaned the carb out really good there was a lot of yellow gummy stuff in the little holes, A new set of gaskets. I installed the carb back on the car turned the key and.... Nothing, gas was flowing into the carb, engine was cranking over and the distributed was turning, just for sh*ts and giggles I replaced the new condenser with the old one and Bingo started right up . So I guess the new condenser was crap. thanks to everyone that replied

I don't have near the experience with old cars like most of the guys here do, but in the short time I've been working with them I've learned that if a car with points starts acting weird out of the blue....it's probably the points/condenser.

If you keep it this car long enough you might consider and HEI conversion. Points are high maintenance.
