" Superfly" star Ron O'Neal dies at 66

For all you " Superfly" pimped-out Cadillac guys, The star of that 1972 iconic film that popularized over-the-top chrome excess has died. My " Superfly" headlight covers will dim in honor of him and the much maligned ( and loved) style he helped popularize. R.I.P pimp !

Did he have anything to do with designing the "Superfly" Cads or did he just star in the movies that featured them? I never saw one of the "Superfly" movies (still haven't), But I do remember seeing cars like thise in the movie around L.A. back in the seventies. I remember pointing one out to my wife's parents, while they were visiting from the East Coast, and saying "there's one of those pimpmobiles" and their being taken aback at my using the word "pimp."

Thanks for posting that. He did at least deserve honorable mention.

You know.... that's what I thought when I first saw this thread, but thought perhaps I had mistaken his death with another fallen soldier. Intended to google it before I commented but neglected to.. Though I thought it quite odd not to be in current news. My apology. May he rest in peace.
