    Thumbs up Can I?

Hello all, I'm new to this site and am looking for some help. I bought a 68 Deville in November and the breaks are bad. I see a guy selling his front drums from a 63. Can I use these drums. He says he thinks so, I'm just wondering what you all think. Thank you kindly...

I doubt it. Any long established auto wrecker would have a " Hollander" interchange book that will list drums that will work.

    Re: Can I?

The brakes on the 63 are different from the 68. I HIGHLY recommend retrofitting the optional front discs from that year. One of the biggest complaints in 67 and 68 was that the brakes were insufficient. Eldorado owners in 67 had the biggest problem but everyone in 68 who didn't spring for discs had a beef as the new 472 engine had way too much torque and horsepower for the old drum brake system.

Front discs became standard on Eldos in 68 and everything else in 69. Don't even bother with the drums.

    My pleasure.
This was one area that Lincoln and Imperial really made headway. Cadillac had to catch up and by 69 they did.
