I donīt really know which function has this insulation
What Talismandave says. You can cut the foam to fit.

it would only cost like 10 bucks to rubberize under the hood, but it may melt huh? what do you guys think, and has anyone tried?

this is the fabric i got for the door panel... has a oem brougham look to me.

Reminds me of the stock Daphne cloth for 1969 Devilles (though verts were always leather). USA Parts Supply has pre-cut replacement liner for less than $50.

The fact is I canīt see any noticeable difference in the hood temperature or the engine noise when I took out the insulation of my other car. Hence my doubt.

Today, some friends, who are mechanics, have told me this insulation is partly for noise (You were right, Dave) and partly to protect engine compartment from frost. Time ago, when there was no insulation in the hood, some people covered engine by night during winter with a blanket to ease cold start and prevent engine water from freezing. If your car sleeps under cover, you donīt need this insulation... Unless you want to keep engine compartment originality.

May new vinyl top is flaking apart at the bow, replacing with a canvas stayfast.

Can't wait to see the results from the new springs. These cars tend to look good a little low.
