    1940 gas tank

    Hi everybody. I have a 1940 caddy coup series 62 modified .Q dos anyone know how many gals the original gas tank holds.? also can I use the original gas tank sender with newer gauge with 12 volt. BL

    My 1937 Olds had an 18 gal. tank, if that helps. The original 6 volt sender and dash gauge worked fine on 12 volts. Aftermarket gauges have different resistance values so the 1940 sender matching that resistance is a crap shoot at best. You need to verify the tank sender resistance, then find out what the dash gauge requires.
