in the owners manual it talks about a wedge block that is supplied with the jack. Does anyone know what it was made out of or a picture of what it looks like?

They were a triangular wedge made out of wood and painted black. These pop up on ebay once in a while.

Theres something like that in my trunk. I thought someone just cut a 4x4 to make a wheel chock...

Do those bumper jacks really work worth a poop? I've not decided what to do if I need to change a wheel on the side of the road. Trying to change one of the rear wheels requires a lot of jack height to clear the skirt wheel wells and even then they barely squeeze out.

The skirts are detachable. There is a lever inside them; it should be positioned horizontally, near the lower bottom. If you move it to a vertical position, the top comes out and you can take it out upwards.

I know how to remove the skirts cad never fear. Even with the skirts removed, the quarters still cover a lot of the wheels. The suspension has got to be nearly unloaded completely to clear the quarter panel.

Re: 1964 Deville Convertible / Jack help

On my 69 I donīt have to jack a lot the car to get the wheel out. As the jack that came with the car was incomplete and totally unreliable, I decided to buy a hydraulic jack, similar to the ones used in the shops (not so big but big enough to lift up the 2.4 tons of car). Iīm very happy with the results as itīs safer and easier to use.

Yes Safety first...but when your at a car show its nice to show all the original parts in the trunk. But if your on a trip I think it would be better to have a more modern and up to date jack... or AAA if you trust them towing your baby...by ramp tow truck only!
