    Vapor lock caddy-54 engine 331

    Hi,
I have a probleme with vapor lock in my Caddy-54. Some say I must put in an electic fuel pump but Im not sure. I have talked to many old car owners and they have same probleme. Only cars with mecanic fuel pump. Many have installed elecric pump and then no probleme.

    What can I do?

Check if any lines run little too close to exhaust. You can insulate them that will help a little. Make sure their all in good condition. Some do ad a electric fuel pump. My 68 Impala gave me a problem with that, for some reasons caddy never did, at least not yet. Lines going to fuel pump I moved a little from exhaust, it help no vapor lock.

    Is that your car?.....Beautiful

Are you sure the fuel pick up in the tank is not clogged? I had that problem with my 67 and it appeared to be vapor lock but it was the sock filter on the fuel pick up in the tank. It is a cheap part but you probably need to drop tank.

Many owners of older cars, esp drivers that see a lot of sustained highway driving, have this happen. Installing a low pressure electric fuel pump cures the problem.
