How long should I wait between oil changes?

    I have a '66 Deville convertible.

I live in Vegas and even a professionally rebuilt 429 (or any other standard big block) does NOT function well in the kind of temperatures we get during the warmer months here in the high desert. So for the purposes of reliability, I engine swapped the 429 to a GM 350 HO crate motor in 2010

    After the break-in I started using Mobil1 15w-50.

Because I have such low annual mileage, it's more of a matter of time rather than miles between oil changes. I currently change the oil once a year. Is this too soon?

I work for VW. Their recommendation is 1 year or 10,000 whichever comes 1st under their warranty. They use Castrol synthetic.

I wouldn't go more than 4000 miles between oil changes, and at a minimum, I'd change the oil every six months.
