I don't believe the wreath and crest hood ornament was a factory option on deVille in the 70's as you mention, however it was standard on the Fleetwoods, Eldorado, and Seville. Many owners added the wreath and crest to deVille models. As far as I know the only hood ornament fitted at the factory on 1975 deVille models was the see-through standup crest (no wreath) on both deVille d'Elegance and Coupe deVille Cabriolet. The subject of this thread does not appear to have the standard "V" and crest fitted to the front of the body above the grille, and it also does not appear to be a d'Elegance so I would guess someone probably made modifications during the passage of time.

In the past, dealers would sometimes install Wreath and Crest ornaments to DeVilles and Calais'. Ditto for the see thru ornament on non D'Elegance and non cabriolet DeVilles.

We're getting into a pretty loose interpretation of "optional"

lol well I don't care who put it on there and in what context, but I friggin love it! lol

I have another question someone may know the answer to. I want to keep the car as original as I can. Any idea if the radios (mine is am/fm with 8track) can be refurbished? When I drove the car the other day, the radio barely played...going to change the speakers first to see if that is the problem, but I absolutely will not cut into the dash board to put in a new aftermarket stereo and would like to pull this one out and have it refurbished if necessary. another option is to somehow put an aftermarket stereo where the ash tray just below the radio is...and I could pull it out when I'm using the stereo...

My '69 Fleetwood Brougham had a buff job before I bought it. I didn't see what it looked like before but the seller said it made a big difference. And it does have a good shine to it (black paint).

I heard of some stuff called Magic Brite or something like that...has anyone ever used that? if not, what product would you suggest? I have a hand buffer which I will probably need for the 19ft of car I'm about to get

I too love the big hood emblem and have purchased one for mine with corresponding chrome strip for the hood
I recently bought a Heritage of Ownership badge too for the grille... proud Caddy owner here

For the radio I've gone with an Autosound unit... looks like a standard analogue when off but when on its an AM/FM digital tuner with a USB (for stored music) port discretely running out the back of the unit and you can even hook up a multi disc driver hidden in the boot if need be

Man... I love those Maharaja seats. People may think them gaudy, but for rarity and in the right color, I think they would be nice to have. IMHO
