New owner 70 Deville with electrical problems help greatly appreciated

So I recently came back from a year deployment in Afghanistan and decided to buy myself a toy. 1970 cadillac deville with some electrical issues that I'm trying to work out.
First I have a gen light that wont go out. It has a new battery, alternator, and voltage regulator. Everything works fine just have the idiot line on. I left that as is two work on issue number 2.
Second my headlights won't work. I replaced all bulbs, replaced headlight pull switch, hight/low beam switch, and repaired some broken wires, cleaned all contact plugs that go on the bulbs. Ended up just doing my own wiring and installing a two way switch on the inside just to be able to drive at night. And just this morning problem number the worst so far started problem number 3.
Lastly on my way to PT my starter went crazy. A wire bundle that goes from the firewall down all the way to the starter sparked and caught fire it on fire nothing big I saw start. Anyways I disconnected the battery cut the charred bundle out close by starter. Spliced all new ends and terminal lugs. it's a total of six wires and a ground strap . the problem I'm having is that I can tell what color the wires are at the starter. does anyone have a picture or a wiring diagram?

This is the diagram for the '69 model from the FSM (I think this part did not change from 69 to 70):

    Hope it helps

BTW, Itīs very advisable getting a 1970 FSM. It will help you a lot in the repairs and maintenance of your caddy. You can find some (paper or CD) on ebay.com

Thank you I am try order one it would help. I have everything rewired. the problem I'm having is that the electrical fire was by the starter and it charred melted the wires and I can't figure which color wire goes where. I have six wires all together spliced and ran with new terminal lugs . Three posts that I saw on the starter. Let see the yellow one went to one post. The larger one had a grounding strap and three other wires which are melted together now and can't tell color. and a third which I think is purple . Anyways thanks for your help

Usually the color codes in the cadilllac wiring diagrams are the initial of the color: Y=Yellow, OR=Orange, B=Blue, P=Purple, W=White, G=Green. If the wire is two colored is G/W (Green/White).

Hope it helps you to identify the starter wires.
