Thanks for your updates with pictures!

BTW, doesn't this car make you wanna know more about your granddad? I mean, the Maffia car was a joke, but still it is an amazing find.

yeah for sure and with that being said my great grandfather worked for Al Capone in Chicago in the late 20's. from what i know now is we had a big construction company in the 50's-late 80s my dad said that they wanted a limo so in 73 they bought one. since i dont have a title for the car and the state destroyed all records before 1985 i have to get a bonded title Im working on that today. ill have to post pictures up when i get it all cleaned up.

Start with a filter and fluid change on the trans before you condemn it.. Flip a bottle of Lucas Trans Fix into the trans pan before you button everything up..

    Can't hurt..

Looks like lots of potential there..

That car must have been used for long distance driving, given the bug deflector. I doubt that the phone shown was for communicating with the driver. The limos that I have ridden in have had a smaller microphone earpiece that was housed in the outside armrest and used to talk to the driver while the glass partition was up. That phone looks like one that allowed the passenger to make wireless remote calls on while on the road. My uncle had one like it in his company car down state in Decatur, IL.

It looks like the one they had in the movie Bubba Ho-Tep.

But that was installed in the 80's, right? Not original?

^^^ No, actually, the car phone my Uncle Ralph had in his business car was installed before 1965. I rode all over the state of Illinois with him in 1965-66 and he used the phone all the time. It was a very expensive item, at the time, but apparently worth to him to stay in touch while he travelled around to the various stores in his chain.

You are probable thinking of the big Motorola portable phones that came in in the early 1980's. My wife an AT&T exec had one of those which carried in the car and to meetings outside the office. Later in the eighties she ha a much smaller phone, but to use it was much more expensive than today.

I didn't know there was anything like that in the 60's!!! I thought those 80's car phones were the first ever mobile phones other than radio telephones. So those early car phones were basically radio phones then? Like field radios?

The early ones were a radio patch to a mobile operator who would then connect you to landline. Sort of a hybrid. Both Radio and conventional phone line.

Going by the latest photo(s) posted, it looks very restorable. And definitely worth it! BTW, the '73 Fleetwood Seventy-Fives were exactly 250" long.

Glad to see you're still working on the car. It looks pretty nice.
As for the trans, if you have not done so already, try changing the fluid and filter.
