I ordered a new fan clutch and 2 new engine mounts from USA Parts Supply for my 429. The guy told me they do not stock any engine mounts for a 429 anymore, so they sent me some to suit a 472. He said I will have to modify them to suit but it's not a big job. When I tried to install the clutch, it was way to big and hit hard up against the radiator, even with the radiator still pulled forward to give me some room. Then I installed the engine mounts...and they were identical to my old ones. No modification needed what so ever and bolted straight in. So seeing my interior was not an option for this car, could I possibly have a 472 fitted? The engine and body numbers are identical so I no it's the original motor from new.

Re: 1967 Cadillac Fleetwood Series Seventy-Five Sedan 'Downunder'

I ordered engine mounts for a friendīs 67 from USA Parts and they told me the same. My friend told me they fit perfectly. I think for 1968 cadillac developed a better system that was interchangeable so this part of engine did not vary from the 429 to the 472. From the pic you posted your engine is a 429. The oil filler canīt deny it. If your valve covers have "Cadillac" word engraved on them itīs unmistakably a 429. Nevertheless, you could swap the 429 for a 472 without much trouble as this body was designed to house the 472, but development of this engine was delayed until 1968.

    Oil filler in the middle...check
Cadillac engraved on the valve covers...check
I guess they just sent me the wrong clutch? I'm just about to order a rear main seal from them and would hate to get the wrong one of those!!! Thanks for your help!

I would contact them, tell them your problem so they double-check the part they sent you. If they were wrong, they should send you the right one and if they tell you to return the wrong part, should pay shipping cost.

Dingo, it's definitely a 429 engine. The fan clutch would very much be different from the 472. Check with some of the Cadillac Specific wrecking yards for a proper fan clutch.
The interior trim difference is because the car was special ordered.

I took the Caddy out today to its first Aussie car show. Amongst 300 other cars, it certainly was a standout...literally!!! The 1950 Morris Major was only half the length...

Even lined with the full size Aussie built cars, mine was just mind blowing to everyone walking past. Other cars are (orange) 1970 Holden HT Kingswood Utility, (blue) 1971 Holden HG Premier, (black) 1987 Holden VL Commodore.

I love those Holden Ute's! Always did. Looks like a nice one there. The Cadillac is head and shoulders above the rest though.

I love those pics. Beside your caddy, the Morris seems a Minor rather than a Major ... The poor thing seems frightened.

Whoever named it just never planned on it being parked next to an aircraft carrier!

There was also a 10 horsepower 1950 Ford Anglia there that would have made a great photo. His whole engine was the size of my battery!

Re: 1967 Cadillac Fleetwood Series Seventy-Five Sedan 'Downunder'

Ok guys I need help here. The passenger side rear power window has been a thorn in my side! When I got the car it didn't work so I had the motor rebuilt. When I installed it, it worked like a charm. A few days later it stopped again so I pulled it out and bench tested it and it worked fine. After installing it again, it worked great…only for a few days! It kept getting stuck in the up position and when I tried to put it down it only made the interior lights dim. As far as I can tell, every time I re-install the motor, it works fine. If the button is then pushed up accidentally when the window is already up, the window jams! It actually jams that bad that I can't pull the glass down by hand, I have to pull the motor back out. I don't know if the motor cog is worn or the hole in the track the cog sits in is worn. Has anyone had this same problem before?

I'm not sure how, but the cantilevers that control the pane itself need to be adjusted. Sounds like it's pushing so hard it can't undo itself.

I've adjusted the cantilever and it seems to be working fine now! Thanks Douglas
