look at things like shock absorber bushings and sway bar end link rubbers..

find something that will fit in there snugly, (like a socket) so you can measure the outside diameter.. then measure the size of the shaft to get the inside diameter..

with this info, waltz into an old school parts store and ask the old timer behind the counter if he's got any ideas.. he's likely to have a bag of misc grommets and bushings lying around..

Thanks Jay. That's whats there now an old sway bar link bushing. I have to get back under there and do it better tho. It's still loose. I did measure it with a caliper but of course i can't find the numbers. I'm gonna try a buick one maybe. Something's gotta fit.

    Hello all,

I have another random question. I have been "modernizing" Daisy without altering any originality. 2 things i would really like to have. A trunk release and cruise control.

Let's start simple. The trunk latch mechanism (w/o pulldown) looks fairly unchanged for many years. If I find one in a boneyard that has the release actuator can i simply swap it out and wire it up? I know there are aftermarket actuators but I wouldn't know where to attach it. I'm not terribly concerned about pulldown as I've had issues with them in the past. Just the release.

For the second part, cruise control, I was thinking of gathering parts as i find em and maybe have a complete factory system someday. I would assume that it would be fairly simple to install in terms of having proper attaching points, harnesses, etc in place. Am i on the right track on that?

Thanks people. Can't wait for some drop the top weather!!!!

My guess is he's fixed everything, nothing has broken since and he has no further issues.

    ........yeah, right!

    Hey Gang,

Sorry I haven't been on a whole lot been busy and fortunately have been enjoying the summer and not working on Daisy.

She is doing quite fine. I did find and complete the cruise control system and tweaked a few other things. We went on a few road trips this summer most notably RI>NYC>VA>PA>RI. She handled the trip like a champ and averaged 12.75 mpg which was better than expected.

She will soon be in another garage I found where I plan on pulling the motor to fix/replace exhaust manifolds, repair the front tranny seal and hopefully replace other seals I haven't gotten too yet. I have other things on the wish list but time will dictate if I can get them done.

I'd like to replace control arm bushings, clean up the engine bay, maybe paint a few parts etc.

She has had a few issues over the summer but nothing I can't resolve. The most inconvenient is the top will not raise without assistance. I've bled the lines twice and air gets in. I also disassembled and cleaned the top motor too. So it looks like lift cylinders are in my future plans.

I'm getting the itch to start so I'll be on a bit more often. In fact I found a 69deville parts car right down the road. The body is toast but the frame, engine, trim, glass and some interior is in great shape. I don't need much off her. I'm mostly interested in the ex manifolds which look great (the engine looks like it went through a complete overhaul). And a few other odds and ends. I haven't bought her yet I'm gauging interest in other parts to see if I can recoup some of the $$$. The bright work is 95% complete and in good condition so I'm thinking that has to be useful to somebody among other parts. Too bad the top is completely deteriorated because the interior would have been gorgeous. The seats being exposed still have less cracks and wear than daisy's did. And even the dash still looks good.

Anyway, I hope you all are well. Let me know if anything on a 69 sounds appealing.

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!
