I was just playing around on their platform this morning before work. I have to do something or my posts are worthless! Well even more so than they are with pics.

Also got introduced to the guy responsible for my yard keeping all the old Cadillacs from being crushed. He is a fellow owner and enthusiast and I told him to check out our little community here!

^Yeah, it sucks, but you will be REALLY happy that you did all of that when your electrics are all working and not lighting stuff on fire.

^Thatīs right... Electrics is the most ungrateful mechanic discipline according to a friend of mine -a mechanic- and in fact you canīt find many shops specialized on electrics (at least where I live). For a layperson on this field it can be a nightmare... The only way is applying rationality, a test-light and having a good wiring diagram. You can photocopy it and writing your notes on it to help yourself.

Re: Help bring her back to life. My 74 got delivered today.

It is a tedious job, but really a simple on. Just "follow the yellow brick road" and test, test, test! Good point on photocopy of diagram. I actually have two manuals, one in house for study, the other is a waterlogged old beat up one I got for $5.00. So I have two good diagrams, one of which I can make notes on. You never know when I may need them again.

It helps that the dash is all out and open. The problem is in between the starter and the fuse block. The only live fuses I have are the ones fed by the ignition. First thing after work is recheck the fusable links I replaced. (Fingers crossed!)

I have drawn the conclusion that chronic thread bumpers are usually doing this to draw more attention to themselves than to the thread they are bumping.

Dave, you deserve a medal for all your blood, sweat, and tears you are putting into your labor of love. Great car, so much of yourself has gone into it that it will become far greater of a masterpiece of master craftsmanship than it was originally. I am so proud for you!

Thanks Dave. I am at peace with the pace and love the fact that this will be the first car I have ever owned that I will know and have touched every inch of. Others I have worked on but only understood the project not the system as a whole.

Today I was playing around with my old Badly damaged dash. I used A Rustoleum product that is like the stuff in the infomercial with the screen door on the bottom.

I put it on little at a time and rolled it smooth with a foam roller. After 5 coats the hole is almost completely filled. I can now press hard with my thumb and not crack the surface like the brittle old surface did. I think I am going to coat my replacement dash, which is fine but also old and probably brittle just to protect it. Next I need to see how it looks painted.

It could be very helpful for other members with similar problem and who canīt find (or afford) a dash in good condition

Another solution could be upholster it, filling previously the crack with an adequate filler, a thin layer of upholstering foam and vinyl (the most similar to original) covering it all glued by the cover back with a good contact glue. This dash cover doesnīt seem to have a difficult shape. Itīs something you could do by yourself too with a nearly perfect finish

That was just a quick experiment. I really didn't try being careful, and was working in the hot sun. The product was setting up and drying too quickly.

I am going to try to use it or possibly Plastidip to repair my destroyed drivers door panel. To do a good job with it I would fill a hole like that with a caulk first then cover with the flexcoat.

39 degrees and 40 mph gusts right now, power outages from wires down and touching together. So.....not so much lately!

Done ouside for the year which is good news because the Talisman is in the garage.
