What do you call that and where can I get one?

Since I got my 68 Sedan Deville there has been one inconvenience which I can't find a solution to.

    A cup holder!

I've been using one of those cardboard things from Dunkin Donuts. One day it's going to tip over and spill coffee on my seats.

What is the proper term for those one piece molded plastic cup holder/ console things that hug the tranny hump? They used to be everywhere in all colors. I've scoured the internet, ebay etc for one but they are nowhere to be found.

Pep boys does not have the right kind.

I also have a 68 and I know the one you are looking for.

They had a curved bottom and vinyl flaps on the sides weighed down with sand on the ends to hold them down.

Unfortunately I think the stopped making them when parachute pants were in style.

If you find one let me know.

It's crazy. Asian factories make the most useless crap out of molded plastic. But no one makes these. They were like a one size fits-all accessory for so many cars.

Re: What do you call that and where can I get one?

    Thanks.

More I thought about it, this 'low rider' console from Classic Consoles is not a bad idea (thanks Dirtywaterdiver). More than I was planning on paying ($130 I think) but it does look pretty slick and simple. They are sending me actual vinyl color samples before hand. And I need a cup holder anyway why not make it top of the line?.. I'll post photos when it's installed.

Got the samples and ordered. $119 + $15 shipping. No perfect color match but oh well. . . You guys may want to consider.

The vintage bottle is a nice touch

    ----------

My '79 has one from that era. I pulled it out of storage when I bought the car. It even has slots for holding 8-track cassettes

    CADforce69 and CADforce69 like this.

You're certainly easily entertained. Where else would you neatly store your 8-tracks except in the convenient slots in the handy vinyl center console? It probably won't be that long from now when you casually mention that your 90's Cadillac has slots in the center armrest for cassettes - you just may get some wide eyes and wild reactions from the young bucks - they will be in the same boat with the CD holders in their old cars some day. All part of the fun!

Re: What do you call that and where can I get one?

My 68 has the ugly cheapie plastic one with flaps going to the sides that don't follow the contour at all, not to mention gray does not go well with maroon. It needs to get chucked. That vynil one looks like it plays the part well but wow that wasnt cheap! I rarely have a drink in the car to worry about myself though.
