    Re: Is this a forum??

Hey Everyone, I honestly thought I was going to get blasted for starting this topic, but I was pleasantly surprised with everyones responses.

I will definitely start to contribute to questions and issues that other members are having once I become more familiar with this car. I've only owned it for about 2+ weeks now...

It's always hard to gauge someones' tone from "emails, posts, texts, etc" and I'm a friendly, outgoing & helpful person so in no way did I want to start any problems and I hope that was evident.

I think I was more frustrated with the search function more than anything , but I will give google a try the next time I'm searching.

Thanks again for keeping me apart of the forum.

    Re: Is this a forum??

Other than just general "discussion" I try to start each of my posts with a specific idea of what I'm looking for or what is wrong. This helps infinitely when others have the same problems.

No, I didn't get that from your tone at all. I like forums, and I like people on forums (most of the time... lol) so it's good to see others who have the same enthusiasm and good manners.

    Re: Is this a forum??

That is one of the best things about this forum.
People are used to getting blasted on other forums but here people are just mellow and helpful.
Sure you get a troll now and then but usually they are chased off pretty quickly.

Even on some general searches I get tons of google links to this forum with the search words I use.
Heck a lot of times I search for my handle just to see what I get and tons of the search results are straight from here.

works the same after the search term too, that's how i've always done it
i think originally it did have to be after, but now it works either way

there's lots of other google 'tricks'

    Re: Is this a forum??

Ewill is right on the money, your vehicle is becoming quite rare so there wont be many people in that vehicle section. if your issue is more mechanical based you may have better luck jumping into another year that may be similar, or just a general engine section if this forum has one.
in the 1gen cts section its got a lot of younger guys in there so you see the same HID questions every 2 days, along with all the same fault code ones and many other duplicates.
i will admit i sometimes tell them to search but i usually have a thread in mind and tell them the title to look for, then check back a day or so later and if they didnt find it ill go hunt for it.
if its a big issue that needs to be addressed right away you will find a lot of guys putting in large posts with step by step on testing/fix or the link to where it is.
it all just depends on what you are looking for.

ewill i havent seen you around the cts section in a while...you gettin sick of us? haha
you gave alot of good info on the gas tank system in the cts and i dont think ive seen you since, its a odd design...

This entire site is very cluttered, and has been almost since the beginning. Its like walking into the house of a hoarder.

With less than 5 post one can't post any link...
That's not very comfortable for new users

    Re: Is this a forum??

with less than ten posts you can not send a PM (private message)

it is a tactic/strategy to cut down on drive-by spammers

almost every forum or online community that allows anyone to post will have a similar 'trial period' for new users that restricts what they can post to make sure they're not going to just post a bunch of links to spam and then move on

In addition to inhibiting spammers, it also encourages new members to browse the forums, participate in discussions, and see everything this forum has to offer.
