OK, maybe someone knows what I'm doing wrong with RKE memory seating.

I can't figure out where I'm going wrong. It seems from the manual that seat positions get saved associated with the key fob that started the car. BUT every time I go back to the car with the same key fob, I unlock the car (as the manual states) and the seat slides forward, etc. (BTW, my wife's fob is no where near the car.)

So it seems the seat settings are not being associated with the fob at all? This is kind of a pain resetting the seats every time.

    Puzzled,
    Paul

I'm responding to your post not because I know the answer but I gave up on the memory seats. When I bought the car the salesman set the seats up so they were where I like them and when I stop the car they go to sort of a unload position and then back to where I like them when I get in. They have a setting for two people. To be honest I turned them off after about a week. I like to get in the car and go and when I stop I like to get right out and the seats just move to slow for me so I found them to be frustrating. I can see the advantage if you have two people who regularly drive the car and one is tall and one short. My wife and I like our seats in the same position and I drive the car 95% of the time anyway.

You may want to try to switch FOBS with your wife and see if that is the issue. The Fobs are not marked in any way that tell you which is driver 1 or 2.

    1. As recommended by r34220, switch fobs and go through the routine as exactly described in the manual. Been there on my "14 XTS the driver's seat would park itself at the exit position and had to be moved manually to the driving position.
    2. If that doesn't do the trick, go the dealership with BOTH fobs and have the folks show you the "correct" procedure. You'll explain that you followed the procedure in the manual, they'll tell you the manual is wrong and they'll play with the controls for an hour. Somehow, the driver's seat will be set. You'll drive home and all will work for 5-6 cycles and then it fails again. Been there.
    3. Back to dealership with both fobs again. Everyone plays with the controls again for an hour or so. If you're unlucky, you'll hear someone mutter something about "some people being technically challenged". Keep your cool. Been there.
    4. If you're really lucky now, some mechanic will come out of somewhere, sit at the controls and calmly say "the seat memory module is shot and a new one needs to be ordered". Yes, been there.
    5. It took 2 weeks to get the memory module from GM but that fixed the problem. My '14 XTS only had 70 miles or so on the clock when the module failed!

Actually, the real answer is that you have to press the set button and the seat number button at the exact same time, then you will hear a beep. In other cars, I was used to holding down the set button and then pressing the driver 1 or driver 2 button... doesn't work that way in this car. Press both buttons at the same time and you should hear a beep. It works the same for the exit button... set your exit position and then press both buttons together.
    Hope that helps.
