    Question Leaking oil filter cover

Don't know if anyone else has had this problem; but, one morning I backed my 2013 XTS Platinum out of the garage and found a small pool of oil on the floor. After doing some investigating, I found that the oil filter cover was loose by about a 1/16th of a turn. I tightened (did not use wrench or any mechanical means--hand tightened only). A few days later, it happened again. This time I tightened a little harder (still only by hand) and so far no recurrence. Was wondering if this might be an indication of some other problem that causes sufficient vibration to loosen the cover.

I will be going in for service soon; but, wanted to check with Forum first.

    Hi smadara,

Hopefully this oil leak was not an indication of greater problems at hand. Please keep us posted on how things go at your next trip in for service. If you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, feel free to shoot us a PM.

If the oil filter canister is similar to my STS' (I think it is; 3.6 L V-6), the torque value is 18 lb/ft (snug, not 'gorilla' tight).
