Thumbs down Heated seats in my 2013 XTS

I live in WI and recently we have had some very cold weather. When I start my XTS with the remote start the seats are not warmed up when I get to the car even though they are turned on within the CUE system. This is extremely annoying and very disappointing to me with the technology this vehicle is supposed to have. Anyone else notice this issue?

Yes I have. The same issue occurs in my wife's ATS. But I read the following somewhere, perhaps in this forum. When no one is in the seat, the cushion does not come in contact with the heating element despite it being on. Once you sit down it gets warm. I am happy with how quickly my seats heat. They do so faster than in the ATS.
I live in Minneapolis so I can relate to your concern.

What I posted in the ATS forum back in November.

    Remote Start Seat Heating.
The heated seats will only operate if the outside air temperature is below 50 ̊F (10 ̊C) as measured by the outside air temperature sensor.

Be aware that during remote start heated seat operation, since there is no occupant in the seat, the occupant may feel little or no difference in the temperature of the seat. This condition is due to little heat transfer to the seat cover since there is no weight on the cushion. With remote start still active, once the seat is occupied and the seat cover is pressed against the heater element, heat will begin to transfer more rapidly to the seat cover.

    Ice Warning
The ice warning message calibration is set up for the warning message to display at 36.5 F (2.5 C) to account for the possibility of the road surface being colder than ambient temperature.
During a remote start, the cooled seats will turn on when ambient temperature is above 80 F (27 C).

The seats on my DTS and my Jeep Grand Cherokee get toasty warm with remote start, even with no one in the car.

    Hello pflmingo69,

I apologize that your seats were not warmed up when you started your vehicle with the remote start system. I would be more than happy to reach out to an internal resource to confirm what CTSCHICK has stated as well if you would like me to. I would just need you to provide me with your VIN in a private message or email to socialmedia@gm.com with “ATTN GREG” in the subject line. I hope to hear from you soon.

I complained about this same issue in January of 2013. Dealer says they are on but that the seat is so thick you don't feel it for awhile until you sit in them. I say they are wrong. If they were on why don't you see the lights on the panel being on. So many problems with this car. the response from customer service here does nothing to solve problems. They call the dealer and the dealer calls you and then you are back where you started. Look at the number of complaints on this forum page about the quality of the car. My issues are now being addressed at the executive directors level and we will see if anything gets done. $60K for a car that rattles and a CUE system that has nothing but problems. This is my 5th and last Cadillac but Cadillac doesn't care.

I have a 2014 xts. The owners manual clearly states that the seat heater indicators on the CUE stack will not illuminate when the vehicle is started remotely. This is true for the ATS as I have a 2013 model as well. I don't think it should work this way but at least we were told in advance what to expect

I have a 2013 ATS. My seats don't heat up either, from a remote start. Reading that line in the manual about the lights makes it sound as if the seats heat but lights won't be on. I don't believe that is the case. The heated steering wheel doesn't turn on during a remote start either. Combine these shortfalls with the weak HVAC control in the ATS (poor auto temperature control) and even after running for ten minutes after remote start the car is not warmed up at all. Disappointing and I hope these systems can be improved.
