    Negotiating With SiriusXm

My three month trial is about up. They sent me a letter with prices for standard non weather/traffic. One year $160.00, Two year $304.00 and three year $449.00.

    1. What happens if I let it run out? Will they call me

    2. If I call them, can I expect to negotiate?

No clue if they'll call you, but I highly doubt there'll be any negotiating. Can you negotiate your phone bill?

They won't call you or send offers. I let the trial expire 9 months ago and haven't heard anything from them. Although a great service to have on your car screen, I prefer to use the traffic app and weather on my iPhone.

they called me about one week before my trial SiriusXM expires, and I said I don't care if I won't have SiriusXM in my car for next months. They made one final offer of $99.00 for 1 year which I accepted after 20-25mins of conversation... Try it, might work with you as well.

I read some other forum that now they offer 6 months for $25
    Google it
    Something may turn up.
I don't like paying for xm since I can listen free music from spotify and iTunes Radio but $25 for 6 months is tempting !!!

I let it expire every year, just like magazines they keep emailing me better offers until I take one. Usually takes 4-6 weeks until the deal is good enough for me.

You'll love the end of each year, once they have your credit card they auto renew you at an insane high price. Each year I call, make em credit me back, then wait for offers to show up.

Like Sirius is worth $350, I'd rather hear my LS2 anyhow.

    Re: Negotiating With SiriusXm

without much trouble you can get everything SiriusXM has to offer for half price. Tell then it's not worth full price but you would be willing to pay half. They will try to sell you a watered down package with music only or news only. You say no you want the full package. They will say then they can't do that. You say ok no problem you will then cancel. They will say they are not authorized to give it to you for half price but if you stick to your guns they will switch you to a supervisor who will offer you a buy 6 months and get six months free deal. Tell them you will be willing to pay the total all at once instead of monthly. You will get it. If he still says no then cancel. They will then try to scare you into a "but you will need to pay a reactivation fee" Do not pay this. He will call you back in a few days and say ok. But it won't get that far. They will give you the half price deal. I've been doing this for at least 6 years and always got it. I've had friends that got them down even more. It just depends on who you get on the phone. Remember, you must call to negotiate another deal before your last deal runs out or the renewal will be automatic. So write it down!

Be aware they have wicked porn channels in that full package deal. Just in case you have kids.

The Chrysler dealer asked if I wanted the Disney Channel for my kids (in the minivan), they didn't mention nor provide information about the porn. I called the dealer once I found the channels, the manager had no idea they were putting porn in family haulers as part of the Disney package.

    Re: Negotiating With SiriusXm

I posted this elsewhere on this forum, but wanted to make certain everyone saw it...

These folks at Sirius are such crooks if you let them be.

I play this game with them year after year....

They are always raising their rates.

Back in 2011 and again in 2012, I renewed at $77 a year. This year it was double that price to renew.

So, I went through the normal "game play" of saying I wanted to cancel. I was sent to the final operator who tried to give me a better price, but I didn't have enough faith that I was being given the absolute best price so I just cancelled the service.

A month later, I get a letter sent to my home. 6 months of service for $25.

    What a deal!

So, I get on the phone with the operator who tells me, "okay, $25 plus $5 royalty fees equals $30 for 6 months service."

I said, "Hold on, this letter says $25. Nothing about extra charges. Forget the offer." The operator tells me he will remove the added royalty fees.

Same thing happened to another person on this forum. He didn't want to provide a credit card so the operator said an invoice fee of $3-$4 was being added. The member said forget it, and suddenly the extra charges got removed.

I have never seen a company that you have to play so many games with not to get taken advantage of.

Fortunately, if you know how a service like SIRIUS operates, chances are if you keep telling them you want to cancel....and even end up doing so for a month....you will get the best deal to come back.

I haven't turned that service on on my cars in at least 5 years simply because of those games. It on in the wife's minivan but when our kids stop using it I'll cut it there as well.

Oh yeah, the porn channels came back on, that's all I need is my 11yo daughter turning that stuff on. So I got play the new game of calling to disable those channels again while they tried to sell me more service.

How can a company make their client base despise them so much? CEO James E. Meyer has been there for a long time, it's unlikely that he is unaware of their poor treatment of customers. Probably doesn't care one little bit either.

    No, the CEO doesn't care.

I sent him an email saying I was a subscriber since XM started around 1990.

I expressed my dissatisfaction with the increasing rates each year and the fact that they were getting away with it because of no competition.

I never heard back from him.

Never, ever give them a credit card. Demand invoice billing. I take the six month subscription for 25.00 and I refuse to pay the royalty fees and invoice fee of two dollars. Stay firm. They will give in.

They already have my credit card on file....

...however, I do know to cancel the subscription a good week in advance of the expiration before they automatically charge me full price.

I'll continue to subscribe to Sirius only under the $25 for 6 months plan. Will be interesting to see how long they keep offering it.
