Picked up my 2014 XTS Platinum

I picked up my 2014 XTS Platinum Friday, Sept 20th. So far I have put about 200 miles on the car and my first impression is WOW! I love this car. I am very pleased with CUE, the ride, appearance, interior ... everything.

The only thing I would like the car to do is dim the steering wheel buttons at night. I was in hopes that when I dimmed the dash, the steering wheel controls would dim as well. When driving on a dark road at night the buttons seem much too bright. Oh well, that's a small thing compared the whole car.

This is from page 6-6 of the 2014 Owners Manual. However, contrary to the statement in the manual, it does not appear the steering wheel controls are dimming. If they are dimming, it is VERY slight. The control is just to the left of the steering wheel.

    Instrument Panel Illumination Control

The brightness of the instrument panel lighting andsteering wheel controls can be adjusted.

(Instrument Panel Illumination): Move the thumbwheel up or down to brighten or dim the lights.
The brightness of the displays automatically adjusts based on outdoor lighting. The instrument panel illumination control will set the lowest level to which the displays will automatically be adjusted.

I had not noticed that. You are right, that is annoying. It would be such a simple thing for them to raise the shade if it were already down when you put it back into drive.

Agreed...the shade should re-deploy. It is a simple software change...wonder if they will update that.

Yea I agree, I feel that it would be a simple software change to fix that. Also, this may be getting picky, but I still prefer the easy exit of DTS yesteryear, where the seat goes back when the ignition is
shut off, not when the door is opened. By the time you turn of the car and grab everything your ready to get out. Now you have to turn of the car, open the door, then grab everything and get out. Again getting picky. I love my XTS it is an amazing machine and blows everyones mind when I show it off.

I wonder if you can make it so analog clock is always on cue when you start up? That tapping on time on screen every time you start vehicle gets old

i have a 2014 xts platinum. Are anyone having consistent problems out of theirs? I bought mine Feb 2015 and it has been in the shop almost as much as I have had it. They have replaced a wheel bearing, chasis ground cable, themostat housing, reprogramed the computer and now the cruise control works intermittedly the radio will not shut off and the windows will not go up and down. Is anyone else having any problems as such?

Our '15 premium has a terrible occasional clunking/hard shifting transmission.

I have a 2014 platinum manufactured December 2013. I love this car! I do have the problem with poor speakerphone quality and my glove box will no longer open. Both are known issues and I'm sure the dealer can correct at my next service. The car drives great, is quiet and the Acc is the best I've used so far. It's unfortunate that some people are having so many problems. If it's any consolation, I traded my Acura RLX because I had nothing but problems. I was so disappointed with that car which was constantly in the shop for both mechanical and electrical / computer issues. These cars are so complicated now that all manufactures have issues. The xts is a marvel. I wish cue was a little faster but I am really enjoying all of the technology and I use it all.

If you have a good dealer they will make it right and then you will be able to enjoy your car. If your dealer is not helpful you should find a bigger one. The larger dealers typically have a Ot more experience and are less likely to tell you " we've never seen that before, this is the first". Not likely but possibly at smaller dealers that have a lower volume.

Well this is interesting. My car went in for this speakerphone issue along with some other problems to Williamson Cadillac in Miami. After 8 days they have called and said the car is ready for pickup however they are not able to correct the speakerphone issue. My service advisor was not happy at all and said that when the technician called him from inside my parked car, the quality of the call was terrible yet they claimed there is nothing they can do. He suggested I speak with the manager tomorrow then contact Cadillac directly on this issue. I shared the three tbs links related to this issue I have seen I'm just not sure if they attempted those and it still is a problem or they did not for some reason. What I do know is that I'm picking up my brand new car that I can't effectively make a phone call from using my cell phone or onstar. Williamson is one of the largest dealers in the U.S. So I expected them to be able to deal with this problem. Even my service advisor agreed the quality is poor yet there isn't anything they can do about it. I'll add more detail when I have it. I'm very patient and am not bothered with problems or recalls as long as their addressed. When a problem is ignored on a car with these sticker prices I begin to second guess a purchase. I hope that Cadillac customer care can address this. I love this car and use the phone inside my car at least 1-2 hours a day. Not being able to use the speakerphone is absurd.
