    Camera eye obstructed by out-gassing

The camera eye in the unit behind the rear view mirror is now obstructed by a cloudy film deposited on the windshield due to out-gassing and I would like to clean it. Does anyone know how to take the unit off without damaging anything or should I get the dealer to clean it for me? I'd hate to leave it as such and have the system capability be degraded or rendered useless.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

While washing the front windshield I bumped the plastic beauty shroud the rear view mirror loose. Taking a look at the camera I found it just sets on hooks attached to the windshield. Lift it off and lay it aside and your windshield is available for cleaning.

Out gassing is crazy in this two year old car. And mine is a Platinum with more leather and Alcantra headliner.

Thank you for having taken the time to respond.
A couple months ago while the XTS was in for service, I had them clean it.
Now I know what to do.

I'm going to have to try this... Maybe it will 'cure' all my driver assist intermittent problems hehe
How hard is it to get at the camera?
