    2013 XTS 'Initializing' screen, what is it?

    After starting the car, the navigation screen pops up, then a yellow circle turning counter-clockwise starts spinning with the word “Initializing” in the center. Runs for 30 – 40 seconds and then quits, goes back to the navigation screen. But, now all of my saved contacts (maps) are wiped out. Is the onboard computer updating or is GM downloading new software? Cadillac Tony, please, what’s happening???

    The "initializing application" is simply the system booting up, just like how an iPad displays the Apple logo for 30 seconds when starting up. Your previous destinations and contact list should not be changed as long as they've been properly saved and you're looking in the correct screen.

    When you are trying to access your saved contacts, make sure you've selected "contacts" at the bottom of the CUE screen, and also that you haven't accidentally changed the contact source from the CUE memory to your bluetooth device.
